First ______________ since 9/11
"The nation's 55th presidential inauguration, the first to be held since 9/11, ..." http://www.news-herald.com/site/printerFriendly.cfm?brd=1698&dept_id=21849&newsid=13721845

I just ate the first piece of peach pie since 9/11.
I got my first kitten since 9/11 a couple months ago.
And I had my first 50th birthday since 9/11

What is your "first since 9/11"?
(moderator, feel free to move to lounge if this is too silly to be in general discussion)

1. Thats why I changed the presidential seal to include a 9/11 photo..
B**h can't get enough of 9/11. It is the defining moment of his presidency. It has empowered him. He basks in its hideous glory, and thanks Jesus for giving him such a gift.

3. I read that too. I had my 7th date since 9/11 recently. Farrakhan had his
latest silly add-the-numbers-gambit 20 weeks ago. (20, by the way, is 9+11. :eyes: ) Apart from making the article the requisite 500 word length, there's no point for it. At all. Period. It's beyond asinine.

4. In the past three years
I can't think of any firsts that I've accomplished.

Why does it seem New Yorkers are the only ones with enough resilence to move the fuck on. Yeah, I lost some friends, and some friends lost some relatives, but good god, we don't plan our day around it. I think the rest of the country is stuck in phase 2 of Ms. Kubler-Ross's five stages of grief:

Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Acceptance

5. I am tired of 9/11 references and mocking MSM and bush's usage
They are the ones stuck. I can list lots of "firsts for today" too. First fire, first popcorn, first breaking up a catfight.

6. I think Dubya will move off the topic now.
He only used it to get elected.

He has now said he regrets saying he wanted Osama "Dead or Alive." I think that means Osama just unofficially got his presidential pardon. I have been saying all along that Oil is thicker than water. The bin Laden family has requested that Bush not harm Osama and he won't. Osama was forgotten within the first year. He was never the target, Bush wanted Saddam.

8. But it's so easy& fast to say that grabs people by the emotion
Keeps people scared so they don't think, just feel and react wrongly. I agree that Osama's out of his radar, esp since he joined Sadam and 9/11 together which is why I think he'll keep on 9/11ing to make sure everyone (ha) thinks the Iraq invasion mess was worth it. You could not impeach him fast enough for me.

11. Now that he has destroyed Iraq, he is losing interest.
I don't know if we will pull out after their elections or not. Maybe Dubya will let Rummy have his way with that country while he (Dubya) moves on to do what he can to destroy Social Security.

Private accounts are fine and dandy if people have anything left over after paying their bills, but leave Social Security alone, It is all they may have to fall back on after making poor decisions in the stock market. Take the ceiling off the contributions and that may help keep it solvent for a while longer.

7. Speaking of Dr. Kubler-Ross
Didn't she die recently? Or maybe within the year. I read a few of her books and I don't believe she must have feared it that much. Personally I feel sorry for anybody the thinks life on earth is all their is to it.

10. She died. One of the 2 people I've most respected.
I saw Elizabeth Kubler-Ross almost 30 yrs ago. She did a lot of good for people in the health care field and people dieing and their family/friends. And the whole 5 stage thing goes along with any sort of major stressor, which is cool too. The other is Jane Goodall.
