Abrams tank gets 4 gallons to the mile-worlds greatest polluter?
That's not a misprint. A few more facts about the Pentagons assault on the global environment:

- The US military generates nearly a ton of toxic pollution every minute-500,000 tons of toxics annually- more than the five leading chemical companies combined.
-An aircraft carrier uses 150,000 gallons of fuel per day
- A fighter jet uses as much fuel per hour as the average US motorist uses in two years.
-There are more than 14,000 contaminated military sites in the US, many located near low-income neighborhoods and communities of color.
For more info go to www.warresisters.org, they have a concise one page fact sheet that can be copied and passed around, become the media. Distribute where you might be an unwelcome guest.

2. My boat burns about 28-29 gallons per hour, at 40-45 mph
As a general rule it gets between 1 and 2 miles per gallon. Hows that for wasteful? On the other hand, it can carry 12 people, and before I bought this boat, I owned a sailboat for 10 years and used less than 10 gallons per year. And my car is a VW diesel that gets 51 miles per gallon, better than any hybrid, so taking the average, I don't feel like a sinner.

4. what aircraft carrier uses 150,000 gallons of fuel per day?
Aren't they all nuclear powered?

Maybe the planes based on the carriers do, but not the carriers themselves.

6. lol...seems downright economical compared to a
top fuel dragster (16 gallons to the mile!)

but yeah, if the fuel ever stopped flowing, the war machine would stop in its tracks...we can have REAL battles again!! swords on horseback!! bows and catapults!! a return to sail power in naval battles!

fight now as they're getting killed off by people who know their land better than the invaders, just wait!

9. Not a polluter......
It does use up the fuel sources though. The turbine enbgine burns quite cleanly, moreso that the diesel engines of the M60-series tanks which the Abrams replaced.
