freerepublic.com

Happy Birthday...Benjamin Franklin
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1322412/posts

"Ben Franklin, one of the founding Fathers of this country, is a great American that truly deserves a holiday today. Any other national in your face holiday celebrated today is a waste of taxpayer money and simply panders to a segment of the US population."

How I Taught My 6-Year Old About MLK Day
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1321124/posts

"Do you know who made the laws that said brown people couldn't ride in the front of the bus, and that they couldn't do other things beige people could do?"

She said: "Who?"

And I said: "They were called Jom Crow laws, and it was the Democrats who made them. "

And she said: "I hate Democrats."

Teaching your 6 year old to hate is a good thing though...

How come MLK gets a day to himself, while many other great Americans don't?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1321010/posts

"Do you really have to ask this question? It is simply because he is black and it is a way to pacify the Jesse Jackson types of this world. Are children learn more about MLK than they do about Jesus Christ, who is the author of this man's professed faith"

Took the words right out of my mouth!

That site is actually getting comical... I no longer get mad going there. It's actually pretty funny.

7. Probably no trailer park
Probably fairly well off financially. Dr. King would embrace "trailer park trash" I suspect, because a lot of these people are not financially well off. I'm sitting here listening to the "I have a Dream" speech and it is all about equal rights and peace and love. It is bringing tears to my eyes as I listen.

15. I have that speech on tape, and listen to it frequently.
It is very moving, and inspirational.
I guess my trailer park comment wasn't cool. I just hate cracker racists, and that's the image that comes to mind.

20. To tell you the truth
I have done the same thing. I guess we are all human after all, and have faults. I used to live in a trailer park in my younger days, and am maybe a little too sensitive about it. Of course, we got booted for excess partying, but thats another story for another time. Apology accepted. I like your name, by the way. My name is Joe in real life.

22. Saw this the other day
And had the same thoughts. Teach your kids who to hate when there young.
What the freeplady forgot was the rest of the story: how repukes & Southern dems stopped civil rights legislation until Johnson became president. How he twisted arms and got civilrights laws passed. How southern dems changed into repukes overnite because of this. How the party that bears this legacy is now the republicans. How Dems have fought for decades for equality - be it race or gender or ....

a candidate for this years Darwin Award.
I live and work down here, this kind of hatred is all too common.
I might just go postal if I have to listen to one more racist joke or comment today.

Did he explain to her that the type of people that made the JIM Crow laws left the Democratic Party to first form Dixiecrats then join the Republicans? I bet he left out those details eh?

Pathetic lying scumbag pile of shit.

13. Look how that odious monster deceives his child into hating
(it must have been the same in Nazi households, as well)

The REAL answer is "Jim Crow Laws were made by people like US, who used to be Democrats before they fougt against and got rid of the Jim Crow laws WE made.

"Then we got mad at them and became Republicans because even though we hated them the Republicans for getting rid of slavery, they later showed us that they were now on the same side we were (the Jim Crow Law side) so we joined up."

17. How to Teach My Six Year Old About Republicans...
I said: Republicans come in two sorts:

1: Rich, greedy bastards who horde everything to themselves.
2: Poor to middle class, brain dead morons without sense enough to look out for their own interests.

I asked: Who is worse? The second sort, because they buy into the the hate yourself, love your authoritarian richman routine without question.

My Six Year old: Geez, if you're a republican, you're either rich or you're stupid.

I said: That's right, grasshopper.

<This fictionalized account may be true someday, we'll see!>

the writer said he never saw black or white until diversity became a way of life.
Like you said comical. The guy probably never saw anyone but white people til 1990. I think they actually believe their own bullshit.

What made Dr. King a truly great man is he would still refer to these Kool-Aid drinkers, with love, as "our brothers."

He was a far, far better person than I am.

26. Dems weren't perfect... but repukes used to be better (ala Abe Lincoln)
That one guy is using outdated history to make the exact opposite of which is today true. And he is truly sick.

The party of Lincoln died the day they stopped being fiscally responsible (1970, if not before.)
