Christians to Begin Inauguration Day Thanking God for Bush Reelection

To: National Desk

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Scores of Christian ministers and lay people in Washington for Inauguration Day festivities will begin Thursday by holding an early morning prayer service in thanksgiving to God for the reelection of George W. Bush.

Faith and Action, a Christian mission to elected and appointed officials, will host a one-hour prayer service at its Capitol Hill headquarters, just across the street from the US Supreme Court and a block from the US Capitol, where Mr. Bush will be sworn in for a second term.

"No president is perfect," said Rev. Rob Schenck, president of Faith and Action, "but George Bush has done more than any recent president to champion what is important to serious Christians of every tradition: The Sanctity of Human Life, the Sanctity of Marriage and the public acknowledgement of God. We're thankful that God heard our cries and gave us four more years of a Bush administration."

Following the prayer service, the group will attend the swearing in ceremony at the US Capitol and watch the Inaugural parade, concluding their day with a black tie soiree back at their headquarters building where author David Aikman will autograph copies of his book Man of Faith, a religious biography of Mr. Bush.

AKA...endorsing terrorism against abortion doctors, making sure two guys can't get married and shoving the Christian faith down the public's throat.

All while ordering the deaths of 1300 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. He's been a busy little fuck, hasn't he?

It really is the party of hate.

10. Ha Ha Ha, these morons think Bush is actually a conservative Christian.
He is SO taking these idiots for a ride. He is using them to expand his own political power base, nothing more. He will throw them a few bones and say all the right little Christian things and they will flock to their silly ass prayer meetings and thank God for Chimpy. Some people are just born to be fleeced. They are so desperate for someone to represent their agenda, they close their minds to the truth. Chimpy is all about diverting the power of our government to concentrate more power and wealth to himself and his fat cat buddies. The religion veneer is just a scam.

Maybe, I shouldn't feel sorry for zealots that have become what they most fear: persecutors of the innocent and servants to sin.

But,...I do. I just don't think they have a clue and I am better able to forgive and reach out to those who act upon ignorance than those who intentionally manipulate the ignorant for purposes of profit and power.

While he's taking them for a ride, he's giving them access to our tax dollars so that they can spread their views of "Christianity".

So, for us, it's going to be a costly ride.

23. he Sanctity of Human Life, the Sanctity of Marriage and the public
acknowledgment of God.

All things that the Supreme Court has ruled that the federal government has no business in.

Christians can pray privately to God any second of any day that they want to. The can chose to live their personal lives by what they interpret God wanting them to do.

But they are not satisfied with that. They have to force their beliefs on everyone or they are not happy.

The authors of the Constitution knew that when they wrote the 1st amendment.

What their really want is a theocracy and they want Bush to stack the Supreme Court hoping that the earlier rulings will be overturned.

I think I'll pray to the Goddess on inauguration day to cancel their prayers out.

The fundies have truly made God in their own image and likeness.

They have every right to do this. If people against Bush can turn their backs on the parade motorcade and chant anti-Bush slogans, then these ministers can say prayers and elate Bush. For those of you who are critical of citizens expressing their opinion, remember that this is the First Amendment in action, and that Free Speech means Freedom for EVERYONE.

Those frothing lunatics are free to express their psychotic views all they want. Absolutely. Nobody should interfere. I don't think anyone here advocates shutting them up.

And we're just as free to hold them up to the ridicule they bring upon themselves for babbling their blabber.

God will look down and have pity on their poor stupid ignorant minds - and in the words of Jesus - forgive them for they know not what they do. They are praying and thanking God for delivering the devil himself to them.... and worshipping Bush just like their own personal idol. The scary thing is - these people can't even recognize evil when they see it - oh he said he's a Christian. Good enough for me - All Hail their God Bush. If he really had a personal relationship with God - wouldn't God help him to like maybe be a little smarter, speak a little better, make wiser decisions? Nahhhhhh. These people's thoughts on God must be that he/she is so small - couldn't possibly expect maybe a little wisdom of God's chosen one.

Sad, really really sad. Sadder still is when they all wake up finally after its too late - and finally GET IT.

I agree with you. I'm a secular humanist and I've always felt that religious belief is a personal thing that you keep to yourself. It shouldn't be something that you feel the need to shove into someone else's face. If your faith gives you comfort and helps you make it through this life than more power to you. Everyone finds his/her own path in this life and who is to say that any one path is the ONE TRUE path for everyone.
