1. Did it say "Mall Wart" or "Wal Mart"?
Might as well go all the way with that one and use the real name. I love it!

3. "Mall-Wart" has a lot of influence on other businesses . . . .
My step-class leader at Gold's was telling us about her job at Bally's, where they are having mandatory meetings about "espirit de corps", which employees must attend at *minimum wage* (when they make more than that as trainers), to hear new rules requiring that they smile at everyone they meet on the premises and stuff like that, just like Wal Mart.

I can imagine those who conform to the new rules will form cliques with others who conform, then it will be difficult, if not impossible, for non-cliquees to be heard or understood, groupthink will set in just like at a major telecom I used to work for (until they crashed and burned, and had to lay off tens of thousands).

Funny how these corporations don't seem to know that ordinary people can discern a phony smile from a real one, and really hold artificial pretense at freindliness against business owner/managers.

5. What's to love about it?
It's not well-thought out--There are a ton of stores in my town that sell cheap plastic crap. And Wal-Mart also sells goods of decent quality--at least they do in Canada.

Pithy statements are great for bumper stickers, but only when they're accurate. Surely there are more apt ones for this particular company.

6. How about this...
"Wal-Mart: Enemy of the Workers, Enemy of the Customer, Enemy of Capitalism"

8. What are you, a Wal-Mart manager or something?
Here Wal-Mart comes into small communities, employs people at a substandard wage with no health care and drives out local businesses.

I think that 'pithy' bumper sticker statement is spot-on.

10. I guess you miss my point.

First of all, let's not do the high school insult thing, okay? Don't you think there aren't a few Wal-Mart employees who're members of DU? Sometimes you find in life that you're not always where you may want to be, so just cut it out.

Anyway...

Complaining about cheap plastic goods at Wal-Mart is not exactly hitting a bullseye. You can say that about a million companies. I mean, where do you get your own cheap plastic stuff? Just sayin' is all.

You've just provided proof that there may be subject matter at least two or three more appropriate bumperstickers:

*Comes into small communities
*Hires at substandard wages, etc.
*Drives out local business

THAT was my point.

Cheers.

11. I get your point, despite your condescension.
You clearly missed mine.

Wal-Mart managers get benefits and higher pay, not those people you think I am degrading --who by the way I have worked to put into affordable housing on their measely wages.

I don't buy the plastic crap because I hate plastic crap.

And your bumperstickers wouldn't be nearly as amusing... which is the other point, at least of bumperstickers anyway.

You're taking this far too seriously. Just sayin'

12. I'm condescending, but you throw my "just saying" phrase back at me.

O-kay...

At any rate, I'm glad you enjoy the bumperstickers (and I'm not being condescending), which is the only subject I was replying to, anyway.

13. Wal-Mart execs party.......
Did you see the Wal-Mart execs partying in DC? NBC, or the one with Peter Jennings, showed corporate execs all partying and no expense was spared at this events. Wal-Mart was named because they gave for the cost of anointing the King, and they will be wanting their time with the Prez later. General Motors was another one shown.

9. The idea here is the "Your source for..." part
Sure, there are all kinds of crap out there peddled by every national chain and indy business. But Wally World is the master. They sell little of good quality here in the States, but I rarely go in there and never buy anything or "shop".

I've always liked this bumper sticker, but you are right...there is bound to be something even better!
