Which Group of People do you benefit from by them being Oppressed?
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 08:35 PM by JanMichael
Who gets the boot in the back so you can live it up?

The Poor? Child Laborers? Blacks? Women? Latinos? Wage Slaves? The under-educated? The Elderly? The Disabled? The not so bright? "Third World Labor"? The uninsured?

Who pays for you? You know, for the cheap electronics, mortgage priviledges, cheap gas, the good jobs, the good ol' boy network, the professional "meritocracy", etcetera.

Who pays?

1. howdo you benefit by injuring your own arm?
Or cutting off your own leg? We are all interconnected-all one, really. What effects the least of us really effects us all.

3. Nobody in particular

My superior intellect and education give me a significant edge over the Not So Bright. I exploit that difference at every possible opportunity and feel no guilt about it.

I think clowns should all be killed, but I don't exploit them.

9. same here ...
Somebody (past teachers, legions of guidance counsellors, potential employers, etc.) told these kids that they need a piece of paper in order to get a decent job and claw their way to the middle. (She says, mindful that the last time a BA was a pretty reliable meal ticket was maybe in the 1940s?) Specializations where grads can demand a good salary due to a shortage of qualified people won't stay that way -- in a few years there will be a glut of, say, geomatics programmers, and the companies will be able to pick and choose. That's the way the system is designed.

Some of these kids are working hazardous summer jobs in mills or wildfire-fighting to pay tuition (plus mind-numbing shifts at the local Wally World or Mickey D's, for supervisors who will not let them trade shifts in order to write their final exams!).

7. Tanzania and the african gold coast get the boot for all of us
Coltan is used in computers and cell phones and over 2 million people have died over the past 10 years due to larceny associated with it.

8. Good question, janmichael!
Something we should all think about long and hard! Who suffers so tht we can have cheap clothing from walmart? Who dies so that we can continue our lifestyle? A good, but uncomfortable question!

10. Thanks.
It always amazes me how few people actually ask themselves ugly questions...
