Freepers bitch about Bush citing Qu'ran

"The Koran is a bloodthirsty book. - on the level of "Mein Kampf".

"I admit I find that distrubing, why include the Koran at all?"

"Even though we all KNOW this is and Islamofascist War, Bush will never say that. It would be disasterous."

"We're going to be attacking Iran to take out suspected sites or nodding and winking for Israel to get moving at it. By citing the Koran as a respected source for a major religion...yeah right up there with the bible...he is recognizing and seeking Muslims as future allies."

"The Koran and Islam are both alien to America's history, culture, and soul. It's a disgrace and an insult to give the Koran mention."

3. I was just over there checking up on them....saw that post.
Wierd. Some of them are actually being decent about it. Saying Weiner is a windbag and such. One even mentioned that there were muslims in America.

I was unimpressed by their ode to liberals however. :puke:

5. Comment No. 2 and the Bushie success
The true believers in Bush don't believe he is honest. On the contrary, they always assume that he is lying for an advantage.

And that's why true believers never get upset at Bush lies. They always assume he is lying for the sake of conservative ideals, and they are fine with it.

So what else in the inaugural is just crap put in to fool people?

10. "True Believers"
That is absolutely the truth, and it's a subject that I seldom see addressed in mainstream leftist discussion boards. Many Bush supporters are fully aware that Bush uses manipulative and evasive language - oftentimes outright lying - in order to push forth a much more conservative agenda than advertised.

As rational human beings, many of us on the left would immediately reject such behaviour as immoral; that is the root of our assumption that "if we could just prove to the right-wingers that Bush lied when he said X, then they'll wake up and start voting Democrat."

However, it seems as though there's a strong contingent of Republicans who whole-heartedly condone the Randian disdain for altruism and the Machiavellian political tactics of this administration, regardless of the centrist pablum G.W. is programmed to spout during his public appearances.

15. That's just it. They knew that conservative success depended on deception
In the lead up to the war, you could read it explicitly: If Bush told the truth about his plans, the costs of war, the intel, the liberals would stop him. So how could we expect the truth?

Fact is, the Bushites are dealing in a different coin. They think Bush is lying, but only to the other guy and the liberals. They accept winks and nods and code words and assurances from Rush and Karl and others about what Bush is REALLY like.

It is a profoundly anti democratic attitude, in which a portion of the electorate knows the president gets his radical, minority agenda through only by lying to the majority.

11. Isn't it the number one religeon?
Or is it Buddism?

At any rate, Christianity is #3 or #4.
You're right...few right wingers can probably accept that.

7. The freeper command of grammar is now a characteristic
by which they are defined--> "Even though we all KNOW this is and Islamofascist War, Bush will never say that. It would be disasterous."

You should always include a "(sic)" lest anyone think the error was your error.

The education as well as the intelligence level here at DU is demonstrably much higher than over at FR. Granted, there are some intelligent, letterred people over there, but they are far outnumbered by those with a 9th grade education or less.

12. See post #10, above.
The true believers know he is lying, and approve his lies for he lies on their behalf - they think.

Doesn't seem to occur to them that he might not really give a fuck about them, either.

13. As yet, they are as trusting as

the public that adored "Lonesome Rhoades" in "A Face in the Crowd." TCM showed that in late morning today and about one o'clock I caught the scene where his p r person, sick of "Lonesome's" lies, keys open the microphone after he thinks he's off the air. All of America then hears what Lonesome Rhoades really thinks of his public and it's not pretty. "I could tell them chicken fertilizer was caviar and make them believe it. . . The public is like a cage full of guinea pigs and you can tell them anything."

14. It's actually kind of a heart-warming thread
I went over there, expecting to see the usual horrors of lobotomy and shriveled-up genitalia, but there were actually freepers in that thread that were, uh, rational -- if not compassionate.

And that would be the first time that I've seen that, at that scuz hole.

And Timothy McVeigh was just as Christian as Bush -- everybody, not just McVeigh, uses that book to their material advantage, to justify just about anything, from porking little girls to sleeping with hookers who are telling you about their little girls' private area, while your gross-o, greasy ass is porking her in some seedy hotel room, while your porker of a wife is doing lines of coke with the pool boys in your "godly" multi-million-dollar mansion.

And hell -- we heard the tard-in-chief justify the gruesome, inhumane deaths of AT LEAST 10,000 innocent Iraqi children, using his Mammon & Dewars-based interpretation of the Bible.

And then you'll listen to them argue that "their" interpretation is right. It's one big roundabout of circular reasoning.

16. The Qu'ran is bloodthirsty????
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 08:51 PM by Spider Jerusalem
Have these people ever read their Bibles? An awful lot of the Old Testament consists of one group or another that got on YHVH's bad side being smitten either directly or by proxy through the Israelites.

And as to the Qu'ran being alien...Muslims count themselves as children of Abraham; revere Isa ibn Maryam as a prophet, and believe in his virgin birth, resurrection, and bodily ascension to heaven; hold the Old Testament and Gospels as sacred...this is not "alien", this is the same tree, planted in different soil.

The blindness, ignorance, and lack of self-awareness displayed there is FRIGHTENING.
