Lying to his consitituents, saying Social Security is insolvent in 2042. Cosponsoring Bush's privitation scheme with Repubs. We have to run a pro social security democrat against him in the primary. Does anyone know this clown?


In its current form, Social Security cannot last. In 2019, only 15 years from now, Social Security benefits paid out each year will exceed payroll taxes being collected by the government. At this point, the Trust Fund will begin to redeem the IOUs for current retirees. This begins a rapid decline in the financial state of Social Security, which will reach complete insolvency in 2042 when all of the IOUs plus interest will have been repaid. The year 2042 may seem like a long way off, but today’s young professionals in their late twenties and early thirties will reach retirement age when the Social Security Trust Fund becomes insolvent. This means that they will not receive the benefits that are being promised to them today. These are the facts. The question is not whether there is a problem; the question is how we can fix it.
