Please help de-freep this Time Question of the Week.
Lots of right wingnuts responding to this Time Question of the Week. Please help un-freep it.

Jan. 19, 2005

What would you do to revamp the CBS Evening News?
With Dan Rather getting ready to step down as anchor of the Evening News, CBS is considering a radical overhaul of its venerable, mired in third place, nightly newscast, including using multiple anchors or even offering the job to Jon Stewart.

1. Someone actually suggested replacing Rather
with Bill O'Reilly! :wtf:

I actually make a point to watch CBS News now, especially since I want to punch Peter Jennings and whatever-his-name is on NBC every time they gloat about the "fraudulent" documents (funny how they never bring up the fraudulent president, but that's the librul media for you).

3. Sent mine
"Eliminate media consolidation. The media can only be unbiased and truly objective when they're not beholden to the conservative corporations that own them. Allowing a handful of multinational corporations to own all our media outlets means we're getting public relations releases, not news."

6. My response:
Change the format from infotainment to an honest committment to truth and investigative journalism (remember that?). Become the network known for asking the "hard" questions. When someone is LYING, call them on it.

I would watch, and support your sponsors. If you continue with infotainment, superficial puff pieces, or "press release journalism" I will continue to boycott your network.

Sincerely,

"I'd close its news division and order more episodes of "Survivor". Fox News has it right and the networks are such obvious Democrats and Bush haters! I won't watch Dan or NBC, or ABC any longer. They have an agenda and it shows"

10. My suggestion.
Fox does so well as a propaganda machine, perhaps there needs to be a propaganda machine with an opposing opinion to balance the media. Maybe if there was a station that slanted the news in favor of the Democrats, if there really was a liberal or progressive station, the mainstream media would no longer be accused of being the "Librul Press."

If so, bravo!

In order to shore up ratings, CBS News need to become a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week pro-Republican propaganda mill like Fox News is. People don't want news anymore, they want to be fed ideology that makes them feel good about their ignorance and prejudices.
