Anybody go to DC Thursday?
I traveled to DC from Ohio (please don't remind me of my state's contribution to democracy) to protest and I was really surprised by how many of us there were.

I was pissed that Bush didn't get out of his car... I understand the security threat, but the guy didn't even roll down his window. Also, he was bookin' past us at about 15MPH - I hardly got a glimpse of his palm.

Fortunately, I did get to see Delay. I've never booed so loud in my life. What really irked me about him is how he would stop waving when he drove by the people on the ground, but then he'd wave and smile again to the supporters in the bleachers. If you want to divide this country further, ignore those who disagree with you. If you want to try and bring us all back together, start by waving to us in your 40 million dollar parade.

Juts wondering if anyone else went and had interesting stories to tell?

4. I was there.
I am glad that I went to tell the jackass in person how I feel about him, his admin, and his policies.

I was there with two of my friends.

We went into the checkpoint at 3rd St which was mostly protesters. The few Rethugs that were there were obnoxious as all hell. Trying to push their over-perfumed bodies to the the front of the line. One lady says "I can't believe how uncivilized this is." Ha No one was pushing, everyone was having a good time. She tried to follow that up by saying she meant the security. I reminded her that this was the first inauguration since our country was attacked under her president's watch.

I was amazed at how many 50 year old men feel empowered by trying to start something with 3 women(or worse I say them arguing w/ teenagers). It was pretty funny b/c my friends both have PhDs (one in US history and one in econ), so needless to say they know their shit. One jerk did grab my friend(we were just walking down the street) and I had to get in his face. He seriously contemplated hitting me (also a female) in front of several hundred cops. That will tell you how loony these people are and why they can't see how f'ing wacko their president is.

Side note- I've never seen so many dead animals in my life. I really had no idea that people even wore fur anymore.

5. Yes Tom Delay ...
going by was the creepiest feeling I've ever had. He looked like a clown with too much makeup. He was smiling and waving with this incredible smirk on his face. For a second I was dumbstruck then just as he passed we locked eyes and I raised both middle fingers, smirked and nodded my head as if to say uh huh that's right, you'll get yours.

As for the shrub. I never saw him 'cause my back was turned and I put up both thumbs in a "thumbs down"sign and booed along with everybody else as loudly as I could. All I could see at that point was about a hundred faces who evidently in the heat of the moment forgot to turn their backs or never planned to, all screaming and frothing at the mouth.

The rest of the trip was hours of riding and sleeping on a bus with a cramp in the neck or standing and freezing as we waited 5 hours. Their(our aristocracy's) brunch ran an hour late. We almost had to leave before the motorcade went by because our bus left at 4:30. Evidently THEY(our aristocracy) also had ass warmers in their seats.

I do feel much better now than I have in quite a while and I will do this every chance I get from now on. I believe there were many more protesters than anybody has acknowledged.

6. I was there...had I stayed an hour longer than I did
I would have been right in the middle of the pepper spraying incident at 14 and Pennsylvania.

I was also surprised by the huge turnout. Apparently the DAWN rally and march (which I participated in) drew about 10,000 protesters. I'm pretty sure that's the number for the march...the rally itself had maybe 3,000 or 4,000. Once we hit the street, the size just ballooned.

It was great holding up our signs for those in fur coats and cowboy hats to see.

7. Oh Lord, the fur
My friends and I were also amazed by the number of fur coats there. Perhaps the only outfit that outnumbered the fur coat was the riot gear. I've never seen so many cops in my LIFE!
