Christopher Hitchens?
I thought he was a leftist, but I was reading the PNAC site (scary!) and saw some BS from him about Iraq.

Whats the deal?

1. Too much whiskey, IMHO.
He tries to be an iconoclast, but he doesn't pull it off very well.

2. He is a drunken right-winger.
Everytime he is on television, he has a glass of water as well as something a little stronger. He is a raging alcoholic with zero credibility.

3. After 9-11 he had a nervous breakdown
Seriously, I don't know what happened but all of a sudden he turned hard right, denounced his ties to the left and resigned from The Nation.

6. This fairly short article
sort of explains what happened to him. He is not a right-winger but he is a lefty-gone-bad.

7. He's a drunk who's all over the map politically
He used to be right more often than wrong a couple of decades ago.

Alcohol's a mean drug.

11. I think he's always been a reich wing person
After he wrote a book slamming Henry Kissinger and his crimes people started to laud him as an anti-war type. He was embarrassed and spent enormous energy dispelling that myth.

By the way, his book: http://www.versobooks.com/books/ghij/h-titles/hitchens_kissinger.shtml
