LTTE from today's Richmond Times-Dispatch:
Editor, Times-Dispatch: I called Eric Cantor's office and asked what the Congressman is going to do about the Bush administration's use of taxpayers' money to promote No Child Left Behind without the promoter disclosing the fact he was getting paid to promote the program, and got no answer. Using taxpayers' money to promote federal programs to the American people is against the law. Why is it necessary for the Bush administration to engage in propaganda time and time again?
It is time for the voters of the Seventh District and the rest of America to ask what kind of government the Republican Party and its leaders are providing. Faulty intelligence landing us in a pre-emptive war, tax cuts that lead to the largest deficits and cause hikes in the debt ceiling every year of the Bush administration, attempted change in ethics rules to protect Tom DeLay against losing his leadership role if he gets indicted for meddling in the Texas redistricting scandal, Osama bin Bin Laden still not caught, pork-barrel spending at an all-time high, not a single spending bill vetoed, no fiscal discipline whatsoever, a mismanaged war in Iraq that puts our soldiers in unarmored vehicles, a foreign policy that has actually increased the ranks of people who hate America, zero job growth over the first four years -- all this from an administration and a party that refuse to admit a single mistake.
Propaganda, blind loyalty, and widespread incompetence plus a corrupt leadership describe the state of the federal government today. How bad does it have to get before we start voting for change?
But at least gays can't marry, right?
