CNN...."Pres. Bush laid out lofty goals in his inauguration speech!"
Are these people MAD?....I just heard some announcer on CNN saying these words in reference to some discussion of his speech that will be upcoming on their schedule today.....Isn't there ANYONE in the mainstream media who GETS IT?.....Since Bush made this frightening, threatening speech, I have yet to hear an American commentator refer to it as anything but soaring rhetoric, or strongly idealistic or in anything other than an admiring way....Are they all so tone deaf that they don't know how it sounded to the rest of the world?.....

P.S...Someone's at my door...I'll check back with this

1. They're not mad; they're saying what they're told
The WH has firm control of MSM; don't speak out or else - look what happened to CBS.

3. I listened to that speech in the car attempting to leave town.
And I have to say it was the dumbest, most irrelevant, platitude-filled high-school bullshit I have ever heard.

Something funny was happening though.

There was a commentator or someone with a mike on who kept making comments when Bush paused. This was the AM 630 WMAL broadcast, mind you.

I'm still trying to figure out who this was. It was like a guy who would say, "Oh, he's really ramming it down the left's throats now!" and other things like that when Bush paused for applause or breath, or to adjust his wire positioning.

Any idea who this person was?

4. I agree it was "platitude-filled" but didn't you find it threatening?
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 04:33 PM by glarius
He came across to me as threatening to invade other countries who he feels don't measure up...That was the main thing to me... the threat!

5. I refused to listen to it -- read the transcript later.
And yes, I don't see how Iran or Syria could take it as anything but naked threats.

11. I suppose if you listen to it backwards with chemical enhancement...
...you would hear anything you want.

Iran and Syria will likely take anything we say as a threat at this point, and rightly so.

I'm speaking more of the fact that there was zero specifics, a lot of talk about democracy and freedom, and meanwhile Bush policies have been anything but.

It was hogwash, and I honestly don't know who he is trying to fool anymore.

Conservatives, liberals, the rest of the world...nobody bought it but the corporate media.

8. cnn has lofty goals to get viewers too...it's going well -
There is a reason, most people don't watch now and their inaugaral coverage was a total bust - nobody can believe anybody at certainly not news!

9. More and more I am beginning to believe that all these
so-called journalists are on the White House payroll. It's the only way I can think of that would get them to lie like that.

10. A lofty goal for CNN would be to tell some truth
and not act as a pipline for govt lies. Also to counter the even worse propaganda coming out of PoxNews.
