Exploring The Power Of Image
On my web Blog ( http://www.thefreespeechzone.net ) I have been doing a series of collaged images using photos of war.

Powerful photos of the human suffering of war can have a great impact on those that view them.

Often this impact is greater than the impact of words when it comes to getting across the gross injustices done to civilians in times of war. It is with this in mind that I have begun creating  a series of collages using images of war.

Each collage is matched with a quote that I felt fit the context of the image. Often I use Bush's own words. His speeches, meant to inspire, instead instill fear.

Here are some of the collages I have made so far. More on my web Blog.

"The enemies of liberty and our country should make no mistake, America remains engaged in the world, by history and by choice, shaping a balance of power that favors freedom. We will defend our allies and our interests. We will show purpose without arrogance. We will meet aggression and bad faith with resolve and strength. And to all nations, we will speak for the values that gave our nation birth."
- George Bush
Inauguration speech
Thursday, January 20, 2005

“We are led, by events and common sense, to one conclusion: The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands. The best hope for peace in our world is the expansion of freedom in all the world.”
- George Bush
Inauguration speech

"We have lit a fire as well - a fire in the minds of men. It warms those who feel its power, it burns those who fight its progress, and one day this untamed fire of freedom will reach the darkest corners of our world."
- George Bush

"I am going back to defend the Iraqi people; to defend the old women of Iraq; the old men of Iraq; the land of Iraq. Do you allow someone to enter your home and force you out of it? They have put up the American flag in Umm Qasr, this is not liberation, this is occupation."
- Quote from an anymous 33 year old Iraqi man, 2004

"In Iraq, a dictator is building and hiding weapons that could enable him to dominate the Middle East and intimidate the civilized world -- and we will not allow it."
- George W. Bush, President
Speech to the American Enterprise Institute
2/26/2003

And I will leave you with this last one....

You have my permission to use or distribute this images as you see fit as long as you don't misrepresent it or its intent: this work is an artist's rendering in the form of a collage and not a historical photograph

If people have good ideas for collages please let me know. Also let me know of any good web pages that have images that might be of use.

Thanks for your time
