if you look at cults, the kool-aid runs out or wears off after too many have suffered from the abuse. Or after the charismatic leader or leaders have been caught in a scandal that is blatantly opposite to their expressed agenda, the idealistic principles that justify the abuse, groupthink, scapegoating, etc.

With the KKK, which was hugely popular, it ran out when the most popular, adored leader was caught in a scandal of fraud that clearly went against his expressed superior moral values--always a mainstay of cult mentality.

Did you all hear/read Seymour Hersh's talk on Democracy Now?

7. When the elections in Iraq go south and the idea of invading
more countries is announced. It will be a time of truth or die for the dems and other opposition. I want to see what Lyndsey Graham does with Bush's next war request, he's been focused on the debacle of our army
for some time now. Put up, Graham, or shut up.

8. I've been thinking that
just like when people suddenly realize that, "hey, the Fonz really is kinda lame. Or that wearing Nehru jackets and leisure suits kinda makes you look like a dick. The same thing will happen to these hypnotized folks when the trance wears off.

10. I agree. Unfortunately, it is probably the draft that will be the tonic.
