Terri Schiavo- JUST LET HER DIE ALREADY!
Good night, how long are these ghouls going to keep this poor woman in her state of living death?!?

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/274458p-235034c.html

Schiavo, once an insurance clerk, has been brain-dead since collapsing 15 years ago with an eating disorder. Her husband says she would not want to be kept alive by machines. Her parents think her condition could improve and accuse him of wanting to get rid of her so he can marry the woman he now lives with.

Just how much improvement can be made once you're brain dead?

They include an attempt to have Michael Schiavo removed as his wife's guardian, accusing him of neglect because she has lost five teeth. Another motion notes that Pope John Paul condemned feeding tube removals last March and argues that Terri Schiavo, a Catholic, would never go against the teachings of her church.

Words fail me. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?

:grr:

5. I sure hope so
I'm sorry for their loss, but they need to accept it. It's ridiculous and disrespectful of their daughter's memory to use her as some kind of bully pulpit for which to vent their spleen on their son-in-law.

6. This is why everyone should get a living will/power of attorney
Stating exactly what your wishes are if you go vegetative.

But I agree; they should have let go a long time ago - and the shamelessness of Jeb rushing though "Teri's law" was so disgusting. I'm sure her "soul" already left the container a long time ago.

8. my sisters and i had to make
a decision like this about our mother. if on of us objected ,our mother would have been kept "alive" for god only knows how many days or months.we agreed because we knew that it was something my mother would never want. to bad these people couldn`t do the same. it wasn`t a fight about her it was a fight between them. terribly sad

10. We had to make a decision like that for my grandmother
She was dying of Parkinsons. She'd lost the ability to swallow. Our family made the decision to withhold medical care. It was a tough decision and a heart-breaking end to her life.

A few years later, Oregon passed the first of two right to die measures (I'm from Oregon). I cried when I voted for it. I hope that no one EVER has to go through what we went through again.

The right to die is absolutely an essential part of the ability to control one's own body. Period.

9. I live in that area
And it gets constant media coverage in the Tampa Bay area.

The parents smuggled a video of her out of the hospital. She moves her head about 4 times and kinda "smiles" once, but it's all condensed down from a 4 hour tape. This poor woman has whole partsof her brain destroyed.

I really feel sorry for her husband for all they've put him through.

But as long as some people believe in miracles, the madness will continue.

11. They don't give a shit about Terri. It's about the $1 million settlement.
And who gets it if/when she dies. That's all it's ever really been about. The husband wants to pull the tubes while they are still legally married, since that would entitle him (and his long-term live in girlfriend) to the settlement. The parents don't want him getting the money, and have been trying to get their marriage anulled.

Selfish assholes.

14. Does she really have a million dollars? Hasn't her care cost
a lot of that money? If it really is about the money, why don't the courts focus on what to do about the money as much as they are focusing on the brain-dead woman?

16. The $1 million is part of a settlement.
Her family sued the doctor who treated her, because he misdiagnosed her condition, and that led to her suffering the brain damage. However, last I checked (long after her medical attention, but admittedly 6 months ago or so), no one could actually TOUCH the money.

12. I agree with you
Let the poor woman die.

If I were in her position, I would want my husband to get the money. And I would understand him getting a girlfriend if I'd been brain dead for 15 years. And I would understand him wanting to marry said girlfriend.

13. I am SO frikin SICK of JEB(R) BUSHitler...
...goddamn his ass to the 9th circle of Hell!!!!!!!!

And this "we're promoting a culture of life" bullcrap MUST STOP NOW!

Folks, people DIE. EVERYONE DOES, last time I checked. Ok, so Walt Disney and Andy Worhol are cryogenically frozen, that not withstanding, guess what? Death and taxes. And this fear of death is sickeningly used by these neo-KKKons to rule their sheeple, and it's GOT to stop.

"If you're so prolife, why don't you lock arms...and BLOCK CEMETARIES! 'But she was 97 and hit by a bus.' 'THERE'LL BE NO DEATH HERE...GET HER OUT OF THE CASKET!!!'" -- Bill Hicks.

"I don't know about you, but I have HAD IT with these fucking church people!!!" -- George Carlin.

15. I would prefer the locution "Stop animating her corpse already."
After I am dead, I myself would very much prefer that the money I worked hard to earn in life (if there is anything left) be spent on securing the needs of my children (which I will hopefully someday have) instead of on the animation my corpse.

17. Whats scary for me when I read this
is what if just what if part of Terri still knows whats going on and she is trapped for ever this horrible state unable to do anything or communicate. Sort like one of those old Tales from the Crypt or horror shows.

Please just let the lady die in peace already in peace.
