"I don't know anybody who writes columns who's on the take from the federal government and not disclosing it," says Goldberg.

1. First of all....what are the chances that they only paid 2 pundits?
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 09:05 PM by Goldeneye
I mean if they are paying two, they might as well be paying 10.
Second, they said there were no more after the first one.
Third...what kind of dipstick would say that...

5. And Stevie Wonder...
Doesn't know who makes his piano, but I'm he sure knows how to play one.

Of course no one in the beltway is gonna touch this story with a 10-foot pole...or if they do, it's to downplay or kill it. This hits too close to home and too many people's power and influence ride on it. It's a shame people like Media Matters or another independent watch dog group doesn't get in there and do some serious digging.

The problem is the web of PACs and non-profits that are used as slush funds to buy media influence through many subtle and indirect way. Some of these people have their own shelter corporations that deal among themselves...and far removed from the principals truely involved. This was partially unraveled when they investigated Gingrich's deal with Murdoch...that almost cost Newt his speakership.

Yes, Federal money is different than private money, this just shows the hubris of this regime in doing whatever they want and deal with the consequences later...if any, along with their ability to manipulate the mainstream media to make non-stories stories and important stories fall away in the background of all their noise.

8. I wonder now about all the NEWSPAPERS
which have not disclosed their heavy investment/profits from the Republican party. Is this not even more unethical? If they take more money from Dems than Pukkkes it should be in the mjasthead, and same with the Washington Post (inaugural gala SPONSOR, and publisher of that Stephen Moore tripe we are discussing) the Washington Times and of course that infamous liberal rag, the NYT (nothing toi anybody--there's a policy against it)

9. Welcome To The Darkside
The concept of a "liberal media" has always been a smokescreen. Virtually every major media corporation either gives heavily to the GOOP or gives heavily to both parties. There's so much they have to gain by keeping the proper nests feathered...but now it appears the pro-quo-pro has come full circle.

Companies like Time Warner, Tribune and Faux have billions riding on a still uncomplete round of deregulation which will enable them (along with companies like Sinclair) to wipe away one of the last rules preventing them from monopolizing local television dials. Actually they jumped the gun through Limited Management Agreements and Michael Powell attempted to ramrod this legislation through the FCC last year. It as John McCain, of all people, and the NRA that stopped the dereg from going through.

Word is Powell's resignation is part of a deal...replacing him with an even more corporate friendly commissioner and then working a deal with McCain to slip more dereg quietly through the FCC this Spring.

Just because his mommy has a blog doesn't mean he should be given a forum to spew his hatred.
