Heads-Up Gate
HEADS-UP-GATE: Lots of bloggers are working on the "blown cover" dimension of Plame-gate, but I am more curious about the "heads-up" dimension of the scandal as pointed out by Kicking Ass and Daily Kos.

The first rule of scandal is that the cover-up is worse than the crime. With that in mind, we ought to be looking to see if any effort was made to prevent the CIA from requesting a Justice Department investigation. And we ought to find out who warned the White House Counsel that something was up, so that Alberto Gonzalez could warn the White House staff in his now famous e-mail.

This from http://wyethwire.blogspot.com/2003_09_01_wyethwire_archive.html#106496189127135148

Justice department called Gonzales last night, to inform him in advance that they would order that all documents, etc be preserved. The order did not take affect until today. However, this may have been illegal. You are about to execute a warrant the next day, you do not call the suspect's attorney the night before the search and let him know about it.

Who from justice gave the White House the heads up? Was it legal? What was shredded from the moment Gonzales got off the phone last night, to when he wrote his letter this morning. Who did Gonzales speak to between that phone call from justice and his email to the staff this morning? Obstruction of justice from justice?
