ABC News can bite me...
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 03:40 PM by Dawgs

Here's the heading on there front page now-->
Military Mom takes Pro-War Stance
President Bush may have a secret weapon to combat the anti-war debate outside his Texas compound in the form of an Idaho mother.

So, they find this pro-war women to "prop" up as the anti-Cindy, even though Cindy started her fight on her own, and actually has a son that was killed there.

Yeah, the media is liberal... :sarcasm:

1. The counter-spin on this is easy
almost too easy

By putting this woman out front, Bush has POLITICIZED support for our troops...It's disgusting.

2. Has she actually lost any kids/husband?
Or is she just on the podium to counter Cindy with b/s.

and just becasue she doesn't want answers doesn't mean that the rest of us don't deserve to get them.

18. No deaths yet
Her husband recently returned from Iraq in one piece, and without that look that people who have seen combat. Makes me wonder what her husband did while he was there.

Her four sons are still very much alive and I wouldn't doubt that they all have jobs that keep them out of the line of fire.

So the only way to find out how she'll really feel is if 1 to 4 flag draped coffins come home one day.

but the fact that she has not lost anyone yet is proof that her position on the podium is a hollow one.

4. She's an UNFIT MOTHER. Doesn't care if Bush lies her sons to their deaths.
The DSM has changed everything.

Any mother who doesn't want an answer to why Bush had the intelligence cooked to start a war her 4 sons may die in, isn't FIT to be a mother.

35. Heck, if shilling for Bush is the price you have to pay for your 4 sons'
lives, I'd seriously consider doing that, too.

But, of course, once my kids were out of harm's way, I'd rat the Bushites out.

8. While I pray it doesn't happen
I would think if "Gung-Ho Mom" were to lose her hubby or one of her kids she'd be singing a different tune. Remember the change that came over the woman Michael Moore interviewed in his movie?

Actually, this may be a good thing for this woman's kids -- I'll bet the orders are already in the works to get her family out of harm's way. If anything were to happen to them it could blow up in Chicken George's face. Couldn't have that.

13. That same mom was interviewed and said Cindy has the right to protest
It was on another thread here yesterday. The interviewer (CNN?) was trying to get her to condemn Cindy, but she wasn't biting. She said that Cindy has the right to speak her mind!

I can only imagine what this lady was told about her family's future deployments if she did NOT agree to act as Junior's prop. She's got five sons and a husband in the military. Four sons are going to Iraq while one son and their father just came back. Think there might have been some pressure applied to this poor lady? She handled herself well in the interview. I hope all of her family members make it back in one piece.

33. Agreed. This woman has shown some support for Cindy
by refusing to badmouth her. I was fairly impressed with the interview and I'm a little embarrassed she would be attacked on DU.

She is being used by BushCo. She's not the issue - this war and Bush's lies - that's the issue.

Let's be fair with this woman. She has to be having a hard time with her husband and 5 sons fighting this terrible war. She didn't ask to be a prop.

Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 04:15 PM by txindy
It is reported that she loudly gasped/screamed when Junior mentioned her by name during his speech. She didn't see that one coming. What was she supposed to do, especially with six members of her family in harm's way - at the mercy of the creature that was using her for his own propaganda?

Adding: And she did NOT gasp/scream with happiness, either, so put away those sarcastic responses before you type them, people. :eyes:

16. To combat the anit-war debate..
..why doesn't he lead this country like a 'War President' is suppose to do. He could just tell the truth if it such a noble cause. When people complain about the anti-war movement, we wouldn't be compaining if GWB was the great leader they think he is. Roosevelt didn't have to hide behind mothers during WWII. We suffered far worse casualties but FDR led this country and convinced people it was for a just cause. Even Hitler pulled that off in Germany during WWII. The reason why we have protestors is because GWB is poor leader and he is screwing up his "war on terror". We have no confindence in his ability to lead.

19. This will mobilize more military families to announce support for Cindy
With greater numbers of military people and family members speaking out, there are likely to be some who will have great impact: People
able to speak truth to power with heart-rending clarity and conscience, like Cindy Sheehan.

Thanks, ABC - your piece will turn up heat on bush.

It's like they are trying to say, yes - Cindy may have lost one son, but look - REAL patriots put 5 sons and a husband in a war because they love their country more.

Edited to add: It's also very sad for this woman that her odds of losing a loved one are so great. I cannot possibly imagine the nightmare roulette that she lives with daily.

She has also been nothing but graceful toward Cindy Sheehan and said that she respects what Cindy is saying and supports her right to say it.

36. Whoa... Whoa... Whoa!!!
Take a few deep ones and step away from the keyboard.

First, our military families -- ALL OF THEM -- deserve our respect and our support. They are the ones who will be at the front of the lines of the battle to protect the rights of Americans (not just Republicans, not just Democrats).

Second, this family has served this country honorably. If we were still in Afghanistan hunting down bin Laden (as, IMO, we should be) this family and others like them would be serving. It is not their fault that this administration has some f-ed up policy.

Third, I don't know what type of sickness is slinking around on DU these days. It is never acceptable to wish, pray or hope for the misery of death to befall someone(s).

The true beauty of what we stand for is that we can (and do) support both types of military parents. We support the ones like Cindy who have had a death and want to know why we are in this war. We can also support those like the Pruett family by exposing the lack of true support (body armor, state-of-the-art weaponry, armored vehicles, extended medical care & other veteran benefits, etc.) this administration is providing to them.

Do not allow this administration to turn us against each other. Remember who the majority of military families are: the working class, the lower-middle class, the people trying to make their situations better. Don't let the petty tricks pushed to a public stage by this administration put you on the defensive and prompt you to speak from pure, emotional defensiveness.

We can, and do, support all of our military families. We support those who seek answers to the hard questions and we support those who need our voice in their quest for the best possible treatment from our government.
