Mis-spelling on freeper sign in Crawford........this is funny!
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 09:03 PM by Webster Green
They made a spelling error on some fancy signs, and then covered it with blue masking tape, probably when some normal person pointed it out to them.

If you look real close you can see that they spelled people as "poeple". The taped over text says: "Unlike some poeple"

Morans!

49. Even assuming that...
it's not a very professional or honest thing to do.

If the printer/sign maker didn't like the message, they could have refused to take on the job (I assume they took their money).

Even if the asshats who submitted the print order fucked-up the spelling, most legit shops would have caught it and at least contacted the person(s) and advised them of that or corrected it themselves.

Most likely a rush order. The print shop/sign maker fucked-up, someone was pissed when they picked it up, there wasn't any time for a new run, they took delivery and paid for it at a discount, cover over the fuck-up with painters tape and make the signs look even more ridiculous.

Moral of story: next time find a reputable printer/sign maker.

In addition to a Yellow Pages; there's a "Red" and "Blue" Pages?

"Freeper Frendly Sign Shope". "For All your Prniting Needs".

People pick and choose to do business with local print shops/sign makers the same way they do with Fortune 500 companies?

61. Another explanation?
If they took it to a shop like Kinko's for printing (especially if they did it on disk using something like Powerpoint) it is quite possible no one would notice. Lots of times our local Kinko's just prints whatever you give them from the disk without glancing at it (after all, you aren't paying them to spell check it).

53. Notice the URL at the bottom of the sign.
Check out that website: http://moveamericaforward.org

Move America Forward is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to preserving our American heritage of freedom and liberty.

Non-partisan you say, oookay...

The organization was formed in early 2004 by The Honorable Howard Kaloogian (R-California 1994-2000) and acclaimed radio and television personality, Melanie Morgan (KSFO 560 AM -- San Francisco).

Kaloogian and Morgan began working together during the Recall Gray Davis movement in California. Kaloogian was Chairman of the Recall Gray Davis Committee and Morgan launched the recall movement on her morning radio show, earning her the title of "Mother of the Recall."

Since then the duo has fought the liberal news media's attack on President Ronald Reagan's legacy via the Defend Reagan Committee and the efforts to undermine support for our troops and the fight against terrorism by the "Blame America First" crowd.

Oh yes, quite non-partisan. :sarcasm:
Why they even have a non-partisan poll; gee they really are interested in peoples unbiased non-partisan opinions:

Do you support President Bush's choice of John Bolton to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations?

91% support Bolton. Wow, who woulda thunk? Of course it also says:

To participate in online polling, you must be registered with Move America Forward and logged in to the website.

But that wouldn't bias the poll would it? After all they are non-partisan :sarcasm: Since they are sooo non-partisan, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if we all signed up and took their poll. And we could even post to their message board. (Oddly enough, their message board is actually a yahoo group and has a warning page which states "This area contains material of a mature and adult nature that may not be suitable for younger users." Maybe Yahoo feels that developing minds shouldn't have "non-partisan" propaganda slung at them.)

60. Am I wrong
or isn't it illegal for a non-profit to have a political agenda? They say they are non-profit and add that they are non-partisan to make it look legal when obviously they are not.

I say either they lose their non-profit status or we all join up there and have a say in whatever it is they do.

Only a rightwinger would tell a lie like that. I think they need to be reported to the proper authorities. I worked for a non-profit and we could not even talk about religion or politics. These people are going around the country and the media and are clearly a political organization.

Who do you call to ask about this? The SOS in the state in which they are registered?

62. Click on the "Contribute" link on their home page.
You'll be taken to a page at this page. This page is obviously for political donations. First off the domain is completecampaigns.com, secondly it requires that you fill in your occupation and employer. Those two pieces of information are required for campaign donations. This indicates, in my opinion, that this is a political organization rather than a non-profit. In my opinion, they lie about this (or at least are being very disingenuous) when they say they're non-partisan. This donation page is just more proof of that lie. I'm not a lawyer so I can't say for sure, but I suspect that as long as they collect the required info and don't claim that the contribution is tax deductible then they're probably not breaking the law. Their ethics and morality may be questionable (to put it mildly) but they're probably safe legally.

67. Yes, I see your point
but that is so disingenuous that it must be pretty close to the line of what is legal and what is not. I would like to see it tested in court. I would at least like to know what the IRS has to say about it. Or the SOS of their state ~ and I wish some of the pundits who entertain these people on a regular basis would ask them on the air, about their 'non-profit' status. They certainly would if they were on the left of the political spectrum. Because the right would scream about it until they did!

Thank you for the information ~ you are most probably right in that they worked hard to keep the non-profit status while attempting to find a loophole that would allow them to function as a political organization. I'm not sure that it is legal. But I can see the underhanded and deliberate attempt to deceive.

68. If you want some more dirt...
check this out. A whois of moveamericaforward.org shows the registration information for the domain. It also shows that the site is hosted at IP address 65.73.183.8. That address hosts 13 sites:

1 BOTTOMLINERESULTSONLINE.COM.
2 DEFENDREAGAN.COM.
3 DEFENDREAGAN.ORG.
4 FLYNN2005.COM.
5 FLYNN2005.ORG.
6 HOWARDFORSENATE.COM.
7 KALOOGIAN.ORG.
8 MOVEAMERICAFORWARD.COM.
9 MOVEAMERICAFORWARD.ORG.
10 RECALLGRAYDAVIS.COM.
11 RECALLGRAYDAVIS.ORG.
12 RECALLYES.COM.
13 TAXLIMIT.ORG.

The first one, bottomlineresultsonline.com, is an oddball in that the registration info for it doesn't seem to match any of the others and I can't find any link between it and the others (although that site does - how do I put it - smell Republican to me.)
The other sites are all related to each other and are all Republican or right wing. Most of the domains were registered by Douglas Lorenz at Russo Marsh and Rogers a right wing public relations firm. The exceptions are moveamericaforward.com and .org which were both registered by Howard Kaloogian. The do however share a fax number with the others, and Kaloogian.com was registered by Lorenz so it's obviously all connected.

The point of all this is the we have an organization, which claims to be non-partisan, with strong ties to a number of right wing and/or Republican websites. Disingenuous at best, bald-faced lying at worst. This also is strong evidence that, rather than being a spontaneous outpouring of "patriotism", at least some of the anti-Sheehan "protests" are organized activities supported by a well organized right wing coalition. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were links to the swift vets and Creative Response Concepts.
