DU-ers! Resist the twisting of traitorgate to political witch hunt!
This story can take two paths now:

1. Political witch hunt perpetrated by Dems.

2. A blow to national security -- intelligence activities compromised, nuclear weapons tracking potentially at risk.

It is imperative that DU-ers do everything possible to resist the first path and encourage the second.

The WH is desperately trying to guide reporters down the first path. They're pulling out the big guns.

Resist! Resist!

Call, fax, email asking this: What has the leak done to our national security?

that can be spun against the Dems. They are already engaged, as is the FBI. There are appropriately positioned Dems to press behind the scenes and represent the Dems publically.

DON'T FALL INTO ANY GOP TRAPS.

3. This regime has shown a willingness...
...to put their own political fortunes before security needs, TIME AND TIME AGAIN. They've manipulated, fabricated, misrepresented. They've attempted to stifle all debate and dissent. They've shown a flagrant disregard for the rule of law, and their own promise to "restore honesty and integrity" to the WH.

10. The wall has been breeched.
A key component of our National Security fence has been breeched. The tracking of these WMD and components is a critical mission. AT least 10 years in the making.
A horrible irony if WMD are used somewhere ,and were able to move there because a blind has been drawn.
btw:THREE months ago that that blind was drawn. Homeland Security? Assman? Tenet ?

9. MSRNC is whoring big big BIG time on "leak"
vote is currently 51% YES

Question of the Day:
Leak Uproar: Is it a political witch hunt?

The Justice Dept is investigating allegations that White House officials leaked the name of a CIA operative in retaliation for her husband, Amb. Joseph Wilson, saying that reports Iraq tried to buy uranium from Africa were false. But Congressional Democrats are demanding that a special counsel investigate the allegations, saying Attorney General John Ashcroft is too close to the White House. 12. Yes, God forbid we have another partisan witch hunt
after all, we want to keep losing by being polite and above all this.

Only mean old republicans have partisan witchunts.
Look what it has gotten THEM. Do we really want to have the Supreme Court, White House, Military , Senate, and House?

Oh, no, not if we have to play mean.

It just wouldn't be......right

15. Dems don't HAVE to push the CIA, they are engaged
already in nailing Bush. So is the FBI. They have their Dem allies who are prodding behind the scenes. Don't try to wiener it up, because the CORPORATE media can't be trusted to report this square. Look at msnbc's question of the day.

...but you might as well face the fact that Republicans can pull off a witch hunt but Democrats can't. For the simple reason that THEY have an echo chamber replete with trained killer punditry, think tanks, thousands of radio stations, FAUX, and call/fax trees able to respond with millions of comments within an hour's notice.

We have only a "liberal" and lazy press compromised by a heavy burden of guilt laid on them by the right.

Dems simply can't mobilize a witch hunt.

Besides, the battle is not the prosecution of this story down the road. The battle is in the first hours of the story. The WH must control the story in the first 24 hours; set parameters and drop bread crumbs. If they can limit the focus in the first 24 hours AND give the story a meme (16 words) then their chances of winning are good.

17. Ridiculous. Nothing is ever going to "just happen"
Who cares if they tar it as a partisan witch hunt? This is an act of revenge and tyranny that puts the very nation at risk. If they want to make it sound like the ravings of a bunch of opportunistic Democrats, it still keeps it in the public forum.

Fight.

That's what we need to do; anybody who questions our accusations should be asked point-blank: "Do you support criminal betrayal of our national security for your partisan revenge?" or "Do you support criminal betrayal of the country?"

Tell them that this administration is not to be trusted. They either lied thoroughly about everything prompting them to war or they're extremely incompetent. Either way, this proves that they cannot be above the law or "taken for their word". Tell them that liars and traitors are going to destroy the Republican Party if they're not rooted out now.

If anyone EVER claims it's partisan, huff with extreme dudgeon and call them accessories to a crime.

19. exactly right
And in order to show that this is about national security and not a political witch hunt we should start now to demand that the perpertrators receive the same punishment that Robert Torricelli received when he disclosed the identity of a CIA informant back in 1995. After all, that case established a precedent for such things and to insist the precedent be followed - no more, no less- would be a good way to prove that politics is not part of the equation this time around.
