Has anyone here made a point of the Limbaugh/Plame timing?
This "Leak" thing came to light on Friday evening and was probably a hot topic over the weekend in the White House and everywhere else on the Right.

What seems peculiar to me is that Rush Limbaugh would do EXACTLY what his detractors said he would do, BIG TIME, just as the White House would need a distraction from what looks like it could be a scandal of epic proportions.

Coincidence, I don't think so. Taking one for the team is more like it.

2. Are you saying he's going down for them?
I doubt that. But Rush could be setting up to blame the media for this if it turns out to be garbage, which it likely is.

4. Rush isn't going down, he might lose his ESPN gig
but he will still be the cornerstone of right-tighty hate radio. Even moreso.

What so you mean Rush could be setting up the media if this turns out to be garbage? If what is garbage? Wilson/Plame?

12. OK. But my point is about the McNabb contreversy.
It is just too easy to attack his statement. He HAD to know this would cause trouble. He could have talked about a million other stories regarding pro football. Yet he chose to say something incredibly stupid and guarantedd to cause a media storm.

Totally contrived.

5. That's the drug story, not the McNabb bullshit.
I think he pulled the McNabb racist bullshit because the White House needed some cover.

21. I believe he consented to the drug story as well...
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 08:43 PM by Dr Fate
...it's obviously not true- and he can laugh it off...his fans and advertisers wont buy it either...

Drudge, the RNC, and Rush are in constant contact- David Brock writes about this in his book too...

9. Just distract the k-drag set until
things cool off a bit. I think a great deal of Repuke voters are so caught up in their idiot, pathetic lives that the Limbaugh news will attract way more of their attention, for the forseeable future, than this leak scandal would.

Believe me, without football these guys wouldn't know what the fuck to do.

10. The stupid American dittoheads will just pay attention to Rush
and defend him. And if the accusation is false, then the timing is perfect.

13. Again, not the Drudge/Rush thing, the McNabb comments.
The Drudge thing is probably the second volley in the distract "the dumbass plan", but I am talking about Rush saying something on Sunday that he knew would cause a storm.

11. Again, this is EXACTLY what his detractors said he would do.
Why after 3 weeks would he drob this huge race bomb. Isn't there anything else in all of pro football to talk about?

Come on, he is jumping on a grenade here, no doubt.

14. The administration always "gets" a distraction when they need it.
I thought Arnold's announcement did the same thing. That a deal was cut, (obviously since Arnold would have never declared without it), and Arnold moved Gore off the news and the front page the day he gave what should have been a very big speech.

I also remember how the terror alerts were timed. When Colin was laughed out of the UN nad his credibility destroyed, we went on orange alert or something.

I guess they figured out they can only pull the terra alerts once in a while, because otherwise, the public would get suspicious.

17. What about the White House/Cipro story
being muted by Asscrack screaming "Dirty bomber! Dirty bomber! We got the Dirty Bomber!" from Moscow of all places, even though the dirty bomber guy had been in custody a month.

16. No timing - Limbaugh is just an idiot
He's no more than a bad actor with a racist schtick. In it for the money. I don't believe for a second he would sacrifice himself for the good of the Bushies. He has no loyalty. Just body fat and money.

18. His real cabbage comes from his radio gig,
this ESPN thing is just for fun. He doesn't need it anyway. Hell, he probably was put on that show just so he could say this stupid shit whenever they needed a distraction. What's positive, if you follow my convoluted rantings, is that they had to have him drop the bigot card so soon. Maybe this Wilson/Plame thing is big.

22. I see what you are saying
He doesn't need the ESPN thing. I just think he has so little real "integrity" or loyalty in general that he would make himself look bad for the benefit of Bush or anyone. But who knows, you may well be exactly right.

You are definitely right that this scandal is BIG.

24. it will not make him look bad with his fans- he will EASILY laugh this off
and he will have no problem retaining radio stations and advertisers for his radio show- he has said much worse things on his show before...

He's building the audience for his radio show. I believe in the timing theory. The distractions are always perfectly timed.

23. it's a no brainer- RNC calls Rush and Drudge...
...they agree to or even personally invent the drug story...conservative writer David Brock wrote about there constant communications...

and then you go from there!!!

The RNC has used Rush as well as Drudge on THOUSANDS of occasions to get stories in the media...

I'll eat my hat if the drug story is not BS- and that Rush will not easily laugh off this and the "racism" charge with no problem...

If it is on Drudge, then it serves a PURPOSE.
