Capital Hill Blue disaster relief challenge
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 12:11 PM by sarahlee
For the next 30 days, Capitol Hill Blue is saying that they will match any contribution made by a reader and forward it on to The American Red Cross and other agencies. The donations will be made "on behalf of the readers of Capitol Hill Blue."

http://www.capitolhillblue.com/katrinaaid.html

If you donate to the Red Cross at the Capitol Hill Blues site, they say your donation will be matched.

They also say that they are also donating 100% of their ad revenue for the next 30 days.

On edit: note my "disclaimer" below. I think we should figure out if there is a way for us to "aggregate" progressive donations.

1. Just my humble opinion...
But I don't trust CHB. I think they are an unreliable news source, and they exaggerate the truth. I would be skeptical of this "matching". It's good to want to help, but be skeptical so that money doesn't end up going down the drain.

2. Not an endorsement
This is not an endorsement from me or anything, just passing along the info. Not sure if they have a really rich backer willing to match funds or what.

I don't always trust their reporting, but wanted to pass this along because if for real, it is a generous offer and one I hope more bloggers and businesses will follow.

I wonder if we could set up an ActBlue account for progressive donations as we can for candidates.

4. I'd go direct to Red Cross.....
And don't donate to any "christian" funds. You can't trust them. IMHO
