Did Rush resign because he was going to be fired ?
I heard Olberman make the comment on his show. So it's not like he resigned for some reason about disagreeing with the "liberal media" as he so stated, if this is true. He was going to be fired.

And did he know the stuff was coming down about the drug dealing? Although he said he knew nothing about it, he was scared enough to go and get himself a lawyer today. If he was not involved in the investigation and he did not know anything about an investigation, then why did he get a lawyer?

1. I'll bet he was allowed to give his resignation
I have no doubt the outrage was more than ESPN had the guts to stand against.

2. I think he resigned like this:
ESPN BOss: "I want your resignation on my desk by six o'clock you racist fatass!"

Rush: "Damn liberals make me feel bad, I need some oxycodone while I type this."

3. Naw, he resigned because he can't . .
face anyone in an argument and he knew it was going to be discussed next week. He can't handle disagreement when he doesn't have control of the mute button, especially when it's in front of a camera.

4. I Would Imagine
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 08:55 PM by Crisco
Daily News would have contacted someone in his camp for a comment before going to press, yes?

Mickey fired actor Michael Nader a few years ago after his coke bust (on top of a DUI). It's not outside the realm of possibility they would offer him the chance to detox and stay with it.

on edit: I would be extremely curious to know whether Limbaugh had a 'morals clause' in either his Disney or Clear Channel contracts.

5. He's dropping like the sack of horse shit that he is!
Wait, I retract the previous statement. I don't want to offend the sack of horse shit in question.

I'm willing to bet my Honda that he resigned to avoid getting fired and try to save face.

6. Isn't resigning a euphemism for being fired?
Like his boss says to him, "I expect your resignation on my desk in twenty-four hours or there is going to be a flock of lawyers filing lawsuits against you if you don't".

11. So he set himself up for a scandal.,,"I was just giving my
trutful opinion, why everyone jumping on poor fat ole me...haven't they heard of the First Admennment?"

So he could say that was the ratings not the ratings or the tons of mail protesting his fat lying ass.

He'll need those drugs now to kill the pain!

9. He Had To Resign
ABC said they were taken back by the backlash. It wasn't an issue that would go away, and he wouldn't be the first to be fired over this.

Jimmy The Greek left CBS, of course CBS denied they would have fired him. Rather than ruin someone completely, broadcasters will say "no we wouldn't have fired him" while strongly suggesting "resignation" for silence.

12. According to Hank Goldberg of ESPN and 560 WQAM
Earlier today (while listening to the Neil Rogers show) - I heard Hank say "I can tell you this much, Rush's resignation was definitely forced - NO ONE was happy with El Rushbo. (Hank was in the studio doing some work)

Then Neil began to talk about Rushie popping some more pills :)

13. How can one eat 100 oxy's a day and live?
Thats like Jerry Lewis, William Rhenquist and Anton Scalia put together with a bag of chips.

Mr. Kelly only ate 30 Darvon/parasatemol's and f-ing died.

I once heard Rush tell a caller who disagreed with him to "put your joint down."

Damn! No wonder they call him Rush.

14. he got a lawyer because of his long-standing
and outspoken opposition to the trial lawyers association, who rank just below unions on the evil organization list.

And, yes, he WAS fired. They call it a resignation to save face.
