Anyone else surprised how Rush got his drugs?
In my cartoon view of the wealthy and politically powerful, I would imagine all Rush would have to to is pick up the phone and place an order for any of his needs.

To see that Rush had to resort to such a risky way to get his drugs, it kind of shattered that view a little. I mean he of all people knows how this kind of thing could really get him in trouble, and yet he trusted his employee that worked for him for, what, 3 years. 3 years is nothing, the woman is basically a stranger.

1. yeah, but you gotta take into account the junkie mindset
and now that I do, so much about Rush's weird persona clicks into place.

"Ahhh! So that's why...."

4. Yes, the junkie mindset AND the untouchable rich mindset.
People like Rush never think that their hired help are real people--they prefer to think of them as lowly minions who will never do anything but their great masters' bidding.

Although I do agree that if I were a rich junkie, I would try to be more circumspect and smart about the whole process of getting my drugs.

8. until you're running low...
then you're willing to walk across town wearing a big billboard that says: "Hello, I'm a junkie. Please sell me stuff."

being circumspect and smart is easy when you're not sweatin' and shakin'.

13. And the racist mind set. Since the maid wasn't black...Rush just knew
his behavior would be kept a secret. But 'green' is the most powerful color in this nation. Money talks!

2. Drugs don't make you smarter. Period.
Especially opiates and cocaine. They just make you poor, stupid and nervous.

You know, I have known many well-to-do abusers. They truly seem to think that their wealth insulates them from the realities of drug abuse, especially when they are using the heavy stuff. It doesn't.

IF Pigboy is found guilty, I do so hope he gets a sentance that is commensurate with what your average schmoe would get. In the same sort of facility as well. If he doesn't, some people are gonna have a lotta 'splainin' to do, Lucy.

even if he gets caught multiple times, he'll never do time.

6. Especially given his constant harping on the liberal, weak-minded
justice system, and his pushing of three-strieks-yer-out and other "incarcerate 'em until they die" offerings.

Buttwipe should get exactly what he has always called to be done with the drug users and pushers, which to him means, of course, blacks and hispanics.

Would love to see him in a jail cell with a highly educated liberal gay African guy who's in for war protesting or something like that(not for the obvious, and ignorant, thought of a good anal rape for Rush, but just to make him totally uncomfortable having to spend time with a person who embodies everything Rush hates and fears, and who would have the intelligence and capacity to constantly harangue Rush on his bigotry, hypocrisy, and ignorance)

5. Well, Buying From The "Lower Classes"
might make sense if you consider the risk of buying from other wealthy junkies.

If he did the latter, there may be more risk of extortion and blackmail.

Wealthy people like to exploit closet skeletons from time to time.

10. he could trust his masters, couldn't he?
He's so totally loyal to the Bushies, isn't he, and god knows they value loyalty like any other criminal gang.

Couldn't he just call up Jeb without any worries?

I guess not. Or maybe it's shame, which is a bigger factor with his superiors, and not so bad with his inferiors.

7. It started because the housekeeper's husband hurt his back and Rush asked
her for some of his painkillers. He was on them for a while so she became his source. When the husband went off them, Rush continued to use her to get them. (Apparently he got really mad at her when she told him her husband wasn't taking the drugs any longer.)

That's the allegation, at least.

11. I guess even paid off docs would balk at procuring 4000+ pills
Drs are scrutinized now for the drugs they prescribe. Hey, Rush can prolly thank his political buddies for that kind of oversight!

12. My guess is he stumbled upon the connection, and his arrogance
and addictive thinking did the rest; he was able to convince himself to ignore the huge risk he was taking.

It's truly amazing the lengths to which addicts will go to delude themselves, even as part of their mind fully knows the truth.

14. The Enquirer article says Rush's lawyers paid Wilma to NOT sell..
him anymore drugs. It also said that before she supplied him the drugs, he got FedEX packages with drugs. Sounds like he got them fairly easily until "people" figured out he was on the Big Slide. Then, he reached out to more questionable sources. Unfortunately, his arrogance and inability to admit he is wrong means that he is far from his bottom.

15. ....
Buying from third parties is cheaper. It's also actually safer in that no one has a reason to rat you out in that they depend on you.
