Local peace group infiltrated by government agent
Peace Fresno was infiltrated by an agent working for the Fresno Sheriff’s Department. Aaron Kilner, known by Peace Fresno activists as Aaron Stokes, attended several Peace Fresno meetings. Peace Fresno activist Nicholas DeGraff remembers him taking voluminous notes and several members say they saw him at peace vilgils held at Shaw and Blackstone. He was also on the bus local anti-globalization activists took to attend the WTO ministerial-level conference on Agricultural Science and Technology demonstration in Sacramento in June 2003.

Aaron Kilner died in a motorcycle accident on August 30, 2003. In his obituary in The Fresno Bee he was identified as a member of the Fresno County Sheriff’s department. The obituary went on to say that he was “assigned to the anti-terrorist team.” Local activists believe that this “anti-terrorist team” is, in fact, the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) that has recently been formed in this area.. When members of Peace Fresno saw the picture and read of Kilner’s association with law enforcement they began piecing the story together.

The infiltration by law enforcement of progressive community groups in Fresno and throughout the country has long been used to disrupt legitimate political work. This disruption occurs by sowing seeds of mistrust among members, agents often promote discord within the group, and sometimes encourage illegal or violent actions. Agent provocateurs have been know to instigate violence at demonstrations, giving the police an excuse to attack protestors.

Well Well Well, Cointelpro at it's best. This is bullshit and will have a chilling effect I am sure. Better watch out who is in your groups now.

10. Sure we did. But did you ever think
...after all these years and all that effort we'd end up no farther forward and doing it all over again.

Welcome to Bush country.

11. U.S. a militaristic country that promotes war, despite what citizens want
what galls me is these are groups working for peace. But this government, which is supposed to be ours, is infiltrating peace groups using our tax dollars. So not only do they take our money and attack countries for trumped up reasons, seriously aggravating an already dangerous situation and putting us in even more danger, they actively work against peace. I hate these people, I really, really hate them.

14. That's what bothers me so much, NJCher.
What's so wrong with peace? Whistle Ass puts it into every speech, conveniently forgetting that starting wars is NOT contributing to peace, but when a group of people honestly try to achieve peace, the government somehow considers it suspect.

To show you just how screwed up this is, the RW cling to the illusion that they are they moral party, Dubya actively courts the religious right, and the Jesus they claim to follow has been called "The Prince of Peace." Does that mean they would have had operatives infiltrating his sermons?

These people are a cancer on the soul of America.

13. is this even legal?
Is it legal for police to infiltrate groups this way? I can't see any reason why the group would be suspected of being involved in any way with anything illegal, so is there any legal justification for infiltrating and spying on them?
