Latest Arnold Scandal: Ahhnold fathered child during his marriage to Maria
Latest Scandal: Reports that Ahhnold fathered child during marriage to Maria Shriver...If this is true, how much of an impact would it have?

http://www.nationalenquirer.com/stories/feature.cfm?instanceid=59509

Then again, it's from the national enquirer...they sure are a bunch of nutzos.

1. Consider the source
It would have to be corroborated by more credible outlets like CNN before anyone would take this story seriously. I frankly don't take the Enquirer seriously and doubt the accuracy of the story.

7. they break more news than mainstream (read: corporate)
news orgs do. remember when that guy broke into buckingham palace and startled the queen? Enquirer SO broke that LONG before any legit news source touched it.

2. You would be surprised how many stories the NE has broken.

Sure, it sits with the crowd of trashy supermarket tabloids. But they do actually have real writers and, occasionally, break real news.

4. They have broken a lot of real news, while the rest twiddled thumbs.
I have heard they might have been about to break a story when they got anthraxed.

5. Absolutely
Even though many feel NE is trash, it HAS broken many stories before a supposed reputable source and has been correct. If you want to look at it this way, how reputable is CNN, MSNBC, Faux, and many of the others..they lied about many of our people and got away with it. Don't let anyone try to convince you that NE is BS..

6. Doesn't the National Enquirer have a new editor?
Bonnie something, used to edit Elle or one of those, went to the Enquirer and sister papers for huge piles of $$$. Maybe we're seeing something happening here.

8. Now all the papers are getting their news from and quoting the enquirer
That's the dirty little secret in the world of jouralism. It actually has the reputation for being somewhat reliable. The other tabloids are apparently b.s., however. After the enquirer was sued for lots of money and they got a new editor it changed. Don't get me wrong - it's mainly just a bunch of gossip - but they get a lot of leaks from the police and attorneys, etc. with the big cases such as the sniper case, the Laci Peterson case, etc.

They have a big budget and they check out their stories pretty well.

13. Osama was so cute, but wasn't it a little tasteless for the white gown?
I really have to dissagree with Sheila here, I am sure many people here on DU know of Saddam going to bed with BFEE many times prior to Osama commng into the picture.

As in the tabloids, real news is weird

October 1, 2003

I was piling the food from my grocery cart onto the cashier's conveyor when the headline caught my eye. One of the tabloids next to the checkout announced, "Now It Can Be Told: Saddam and Osama's Gay Wedding!" Beneath the headline was a "photograph" of Saddam Hussein in a suit, walking down the aisle with Osama bin Laden, tastefully attired in a long, white bridal gown.

I had to wonder: Who buys these papers or believes these nutty stories? But then I stopped to consider that the real news is hardly less weird.

In California, the circus that is the recall election is the logical result of years and years of political rhetoric suggesting that government is undesirable, if not unnecessary, and that experience in public office or knowledge of how government works should be viewed as a negative in a political campaign. The fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger had to learn the meaning of the word "infrastructure" becomes evidence of his fitness for office.

In Washington, the Bush administration has demonstrated its devotion to "faith-based" programs by giving $475,280 of our tax dollars to the Moonies. According to a recent article in Salon, Free Teens USA is an after-school celibacy program run by the Unification Church.
(snip)

btw I get all my news at the grocery checkout line, it makes so much more sense then putting a quarter in a locked up box on a street corner. After all why pay for lies when you can read REAL WORlD NEWS for free at the checkout stand?

9. Maybe the NE is still mad that someone knocked off their old editor
You know, the one who printed photos of Jenna Bush falling down drunk, and then was the first victim of the anthrax mailers, just before these unknown assailant attacked several other journalists (alledged to be liberals) and two US Senators (both Democrats, and both capable of turning senate control back to the Republicans by their demises)?

But fortunately we caught that guy, and he's behind bars where he deserves to be, alongside Usama bin Laden.

11. Why did you delete it?
Was it because of the children?

14. Someone over at LBN posted the photo
It didn't take long, did it?

I imagine the tabloids have staked out their house by now.
