Handicapping the candidates
Howard Dean, 5-2, Flashy frontrunner has good connections and an aggressive running style. But can he get the distance?

Wesley Clark, 7-2, Late entrant with unusual pedigree will be set up for a deep closing run.

John Kerry, 7-1, Sports blue chip pedigree and has looked sharp in training lately; will stalk the frontrunners; may be there to pick up the pieces if the two top ones fail.

Richard Gephardt, 10-1, Veteran plodder may be overlooked in this race; can get up for a money spot but don't see this one as the winner.

John Edwards, 20-1, Good-looking chestnut shows flashes of promise; may be overmatched in this race; look for him in the future.

Joe Lieberman, 40-1, Connecticut shipper has done well at this track before but won't hit the board in this race.

Dennis Kucinich, 80-1, Honest horse has his supporters but will win a Nobel Peace Prize before he takes the presidency.

Carol Moseley Braun, 100-1, Bay mare takes on the boys, has a smooth running style, but will do better when placed in a more realistic spot.

Al Sharpton, 150-1, Fan favorite has no shot; toss.

Bob Graham, 200-1, Old champion will not be there when the real running begins.

Note: Due to mathematical impairment, the odds don't add up.

2. My bet
I'll take a $20 part-wheel playing Wesley Clark over John Kerry and John Edwards.

Maybe I should have posted this in the Lounge...

3. And the winner is going to have to be a "mudder" as well
if what I'm hearing now is any indication of what the primaries-and the election itself-are going to be like.

4. Mud or slop?
Dean and Clark have the best mud pedigrees in the race, although I hear that Dean doesn't like mud flying in his face.

6. $10 Exacta box, Dean/Clark.
$5 to win on Edwards and/or Kerry, they're a steal at that price!
