Governor Dean Asks California Supporters to Vote “No” On Recall
LEBANON, NH--Democratic presidential candidate Governor Howard Dean, M.D., wrote to his 50,000 California supporters tonight and asked them to vote “no” on Tuesday’s recall election.

In his email, Governor Dean said that the presence in California of a Republican governor like Arnold Schwarzenegger would make it significantly more difficult for the Democrats to win California in the November 2004 presidential election.

“The race will be decided by a razor-thin margin--every vote will count, and every voter must stand up and be counted,” Governor Dean emailed to his supporters. “All Americans have a stake in Tuesday’s election, but only your vote counts. Please vote ‘no’ on the recall.”

1. way to go Dean!!!
That's what's going on right now, and all out push to stop this thing. Sort of reminds me of the 2000 election when Gore caught up to Bush, BEAT HIM, but had the presidency stolen anyway.

2. He has 50,000 on-line supporters in California
and given the unpredicatbility of this election they could be crucial. Hope they all get out and vote.

3. Your head is wrong.
Dean is not a Governor. Just another hack now. No one in California cares what Dean thinks.

5. I think Dean was leading in CA primary polls.
He has some pull. As Dean says, people should be thinking about election 2004.

8. Governor for Life
Governors, like senators, mayors and presidents (!) are addressed with the last title they had for life, unless they run for and become a different office-holder.
That's why Clinton is still President Clinton, as is Carter.

11. Funny how you lurkers get it EXACTLY WRONG
I have postulated this before and I'll say it here right now:
If NO on the Recall passes it will be because of Dean support. IN what way ,besides the leader of the populist Democratic party calling for loyalty?

Because the Dean organization in CA has registered many new voters since February; an average of three per month per meeting state iwde and there is at least one meeting per county. Do the math.

I don't see any other presidential candidate's organizations doing this.and Where's the press releases /statements TODAY? I welcome all support, but they have about 10 hours to make an impact.

7. Schwarzenegger might wind up being the GOP's albatross.
Can you see Bush and Arnold side by side at a campaign event? Imagine Dumb and Even Dumberer. I don't think Arnold was what the GOP had in mind when they started this fustercluck.

9. I disagree that Robot's win will help Shrub in 2004
I have been reading analyis here that if Robot wins the DEM majority leglislature is not going to make things easy for him. I think one REP said and I am paraphrasing that if Robot wins they are not starstruck and Robot tries to order them around they will have him for lunch.

Also, when Wilson was in office, Clinton won twice here. I do think this is a DEM state. Robot will win only because he is a celebrity and is socially liberal.

NO ON the RECALL!

17. Robot needs about 20% to win
I posted in another post that I am ticked off that after voting for Davis just 11 months ago, that I have to vote No on the Recall because RWingers are trying gain control of our state.

Dean has tons of support here. I think his message will have an impact with the Californians who support him.

20. I guess you weren't paying attention to FL 2000, eh?
Repug Gov., every vote suppression and vote fraud technique in the book? Also, up to 40% of the vote were on computerized voting machines -- some of the same software we've been talking about for months here. And now CA is hellbent for leather to get some of those fancy machines too (they already have a bunch).

A few days (Monday) before Arnold announced his decision to run (Friday), there was a column in the WashTimes that Bush/Cheney think that NY and CA are "ripe for the picking." Backstory.

If Arnold wins and we don't solve the voting machine problem, kiss your Dem state goodbye.

Eloriel

22. Eloriel I agree
This concerns me too, and if the votes go suddenly repug tomorrow when CA has been a pretty much DEM state, we have our work cut out for us in 2004 regarding voting machine frauds. I am going to vote absentee from now on.
