9. I appreciate that you're exercising your right and your conscience, but...
This is *Democratic* underground, and, in my opinion, a vote against the recall (regardless of your replacement choice) in no way helps the Democratic cause. Far from it -- it jeopardizes the opportunity to beat * in 2004.

The following is a brief an e-mail sent today by the Howard Dean campaign; I believe that it clearly spells out the danger of the recall:

Dear California Voter,

I am writing to you today to ask you to vote "No" in California's
recall election Tuesday.

This race will be decided by a razor-thin margin -- every vote will
count, and every voter must stand up and be counted.

The presence of a Republican governor like Arnold Schwarzenegger
will make it significantly more difficult for the Democrats to win
California in the November 2004 presidential election. Losing
California would likely mean four more years of George W. Bush in
the White House. We cannot afford that.

This recall is another step in the Republicans' attempt to win-at-all-costs -- just like the 2000 election and the Texas redistricting battle. We must stand together against the right-wing's efforts to overturn the will of the voters.

The outcome of Tuesday's election will determine the direction California will take for many years to come.

We cannot afford to let the Bush administration bring its failed agenda and divisive policies to Sacramento. We cannot allow the clock to be turned back on the progress California has made over the last few years.

I know Gray Davis as a friend and as a fellow Governor. I am asking you to help him move California forward.

All Americans have a stake in Tuesday's election, but only your vote
counts. Please vote "no" on the recall.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Gov. Howard Dean

10. Vote yes?
I don't get what you are saying. People should vote yes so it helps the party?

8. I received my ballot today in Germany
I called the CA registrar of voters and the assistant said I could FAX in my vote as long as I didn't mind it not being a secret ballot.

I'll be leaving behind a four page paper-trail if one counts the cover letter. That's fine by me.

Those needing to FAX should go to www.lavote.net and download the form "Special Overseas Absent Voter Signature Form and Oath." Sign it and fax it in with the pages from your sample ballot that you have marked, along with a cover letter attn: absentee voter. Get it in by 8:00 p.m. CA time.

12. Question? Is a re-call Arnold movement afoot?
I heard someone say that it would be great if we could have petition signatures for the possible re-call of arnie being collected ON OCT 7. ELECTION DAY!!!
Now that's thinking!

Arnold is not presently the holder of any statwide public office.

16. My idea!
But we'll have to wait a month before we do anything to him. Let him bomb out first so that we will have some traction to throw him out on his ear on. Knowing him, he'll have fucked up enough in a month for that to happen.

17. we have the machinery geared up
this will be legal. We don't need malfeasance; we have

1) IF he wins I guarantee Davis will have received more votes:
disenfranchisement

2) he will be sued by the gropees before this is over.
unfit for office due to demonstrable behavior.

3) not many people are aware the governor can do nothing about the CAR TAX. when this comes out, the public will feel really used.

18. Or, you could vote to block him in the first place.
Davis and Bustamante are the men standing in his way. Unfortunately, it is the case that Camejo is not standing in the way. I am on the left and support Camejo's platform, but I value my state and don't want to in any risk diverting away from the leading candidates standing in the actors' way.

Pretty please?

19. Bustamante is awesome
He sounds like a nice guy, has a sense of humor, and has a real economic plan. If I lived in Cali he'd have my vote, and I'd probably vote no on the recall out of principle (although I'd rather have him than Davis).
