Majority of Americans Turn Against Iraq War - and Bush

"Most Americans now believe the Iraq war was not worth it, according to CBS News/New York Times poll released on Thursday which showed a sharp fall in public confidence in Bush's ability to handle foreign and economic policy issues. The poll found new lows for Bush's foreign policy performance, which garnered just a 44% approval rating. Among respondents, 50% lacked confidence in his ability to handle an international crisis and 53% said they now believed the Iraq war was not worth it. Bush's overall job approval rating was just above 50%, almost back to the level before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and down sharply from his 89% approval rating after the attacks... Just over a year before the Nov. 2004 election, a solid majority, 56%, of Americans thought the country was seriously on the wrong track... Eyeing the presidential election, voters were split 44% to 44% between Bush and an unnamed Democratic opponent."

1. if 56% think the country is on the wrong track

He's outed himself and his imperialistic intentions with his idiotic aggressive comments inre: Israel preemptively attacking Syria.

7. Two different questions
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 03:32 PM by Paschall
The first is a general question about the country. The second focuses on Chimpster.

Six percent are still blaming Clinton's penis.

3. so what does * have left to campaign on now?

4. Well, he can land a plane on an aircraft carrier
That's gotta count for something, right? (It damn well better, it cost us a million bucks.)

If the Democratic candidate can't do more than juggle plates or jump through burning hoops, Shrub might have a shot at it.

6. He'll have to land a space shuttle
or drive an aircraft carrier right up onto the White House lawn, the teeming masses aren't impressed with reruns.

There's a whole year left that Rove has to try stuff to see what sticks. It'll likely be some inconsequential poot that has fuck-all to do with the presidency or the dire state of the nation's health that captures the public imagination. Watch for a return of the homer-sekshul agenda bugaboo -- since Lawrence vs Texas, there's been some untapped bigotry that's burbling out there.

8. Not to mention Bishop Richardson
Or Dean's record with civil unions in Vermont.

So much lovely material to work with.

10. Just to Clarify...
* DID NOT land that S-3 Viking on the carrier! He sat in the copilot's seat, probably white with fear. He isn't and NEVER WAS "Car-Qualed" or trained to land on a carrer deck.

Another reason that stupid doll makes me so mad. From what I have heard and read he was a pretty ham-fisted pilot anyway...coke will do that to ya... ;)

:kick: his POSER butt!

approval rating to over 50 percent?

They hate the econonmy, they hate the way Bush has handled the war, but he still ekes out a 51 percent approval rating?

Bizarre . . . must be the "character" issue--they see him as basically a "good man" albeit wrong-headed.

We have a job to get the word out that bad is as bad does.
