Premiere Magazine March 2001 (!) article on Arnold S's groping problem
Forgive me if this is old news here, but I just came across an article about Arnold Schwarzenegger's abominable behavior against women that was published in March 2001!. How can he possibly claim this is all dirty tricks by Davis and the Democrats?!!

1. Yes. And Arnie asks "Why are all these women coming forward now?"
When he knows damn well some of them came forward years ago. Anna Richardson, a British reporter, complained publicly about Arnold's tweaking her nipples soon after it happened in 2001. It was published in the Sun and Premiere Magazine.

This is not old news and these are complaints that have consistently been made against Schwarzenegger.

If it was fair game against Clinton (and Republicans set the bar for that), then it's fair game for Arnie. Not only that, but many of these allegations against Schwarzenegger involve sexual battery, whereas I believe most or all that were made against Clinton simply involved unwanted advances. One can argue that this may have constituted sexual harassment, if the subjects of these advances were employees. But with Arnold, we are talking about a different level of sexual misbehavior. Arnold has allegedly, and repeatedly, committed sexual battery.

I am not making excuses for Clinton. Some of his personal behavior was abhorrent. But if even less serious personal behavior was fair game for Clinton, then these allegations are all relevant to the election. The people can make their decision with all the information available. Of course, with Arnie being a political novice, his "qualifications" amount simply to: Movie Star, Nazi sympathizer, and sexual batterer.

2. Yes, I remember reading these stories back then
and Arnold saying he wouldn't run for politics. I really thought that was the end of it.

7. Yes, Davis is pretty sneaky
He is just the type of person to misuse time travel technology for his own personal gains. ;)

5. dunno what to make of this.......John Connolly wrote it.........
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 05:07 PM by julka
AND.......he was on Drudgeradio last night, talking about this very article, and its ramifications.

Connolly, you'll recall wrote the died-aborning "Insane Clown Posse," which was SABotaged by Drudge.

this was about the elves, remember? and Connolly sued his researcher, who stole galleys and gave them to Drudge!

I caught the show just as they buried the hatchet, and don't know if they discussed it in any detail, but.........

strange provenance of that Premiere story.

LOTS of stuff in Connolly's past, and LOTS of outraged response from big Hollywood names mentioned in the article.

check this out, from a creepy wingnut blog, but read the section on the Premiere story, and decide for yourself.

I've always wondered why Connolly didn't/couldn't find another publisher for that book (Softskull had been mentioned at the time), and have remained VERY disappointed that it never came out.

from Ford's site, reaction to the article:

Linda Hamilton, who co-starred with Schwarzenegger in both of the wildly-successful Terminator films, denounced as "fantasy" the story of an incident in a limousine in which the Premiere article claimed Arnold lifted her onto his lap in the presence of her then-boyfriend Director James Cameron and others (including Schwarzenegger's wife, Maria Shriver). Hamilton stated in a letter she sent to Premiere's Editor in Chief: "Let me be perfectly clear. In my nearly twenty years of friendship with Arnold Schwarzenegger I have never witnessed ANY HINT of the behavior you so carelessly ascribe him. I have known and witnessed Arnold on set as a man who is tirelessly PROFESSIONAL, and in life as a singularly devoted husband, father, and family man." Hamilton went on to describe the publication as "unsubstantiated/gossip-mongering/character-assassinating/smear campaign/tactics."

For his part, Academy Award winning Director-Producer James Cameron (who worked with Schwarzenegger on the blockbusters Terminator, T2 and True Lies) likewise condemned Premiere for its report of the fictional limousine incident. In a letter to Premiere, Cameron described the report as "pure fiction," adding that over the 18 years he has known Schwarzenegger, he has "never seen Arnold act in the coarse fashion describe(d) with any woman, at any time, ever, and most certainly not with Linda Hamilton . . . ." Cameron added: "The situation you describe did not take place, and though I object on principle to your printing of pure fabrication like some cheesy tabloid, I particularly object to the unfair and absurdly off-the-mark picture it paints of Arnold, who is as good a man and human being as I have known."

Jamie Lee Curtis, who won a Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of Schwarzenegger's wife in True Lies, said that the Premiere article "outrages" her. She wrote of Schwarzenegger in a letter to Premiere: "I admire him as a man, husband, father, friend and icon of the power of the American dream. I hold him in the highest esteem." Curtis stated that she worked with Arnold for seven months on True Lies, during which his trailer door was always open. She added that she never observed anything like the behavior described in the article, noting that Arnold's "wife and his family are the most important things to him in the world." Curtis lambasted the article as a "smear campaign" and a "politically motivated hatchet job." Chastising Premiere's publishers, Curtis told them, "you should be ashamed of yourselves."

Rita Wilson, who played Schwarzenegger's wife in the comedy Jingle All The Way, wrote to Premiere that Arnold "has acted only in the most professional of ways" when they worked together. She added that he "always treated me with respect, as well as everyone else on the set. He never stepped over any boundaries or made me feel uncomfortable." Also noting that Schwarzenegger's trailer doors were always open, Wilson said that she was "saddened" by the hurtful article.

Believe me, I can't STAND A.S., but, unless these quotes are made up, it seems like there's at least the other side, at least as given by the above the line types in Hollywood. whether they're just protecting their own, who knows?

plenty of dirt on Connolly at this site, too, but, again, who knows what to believe?

6. The media is protecting Arnold
The other media attacked the LA Times for daring to question anything about the great Arnold.
