Republicans want to prosecute Joseph Wilson!

Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican, said Sunday that it's Mr. Wilson who needs to be investigated — and even prosecuted if he violated CIA secrecy.

Any publicity of this breach of security is good. No way could anyone find Wilson guilty of anything.

...and it takes a back seat to the fact that we KNOW that someone violated CIA secrecy to Robert Novak, and he described that(those) person(s) as senior WH officials.

Any investigation of Wilson would be just another Republican fishing expedition.

King was one of the more reasonable repukes during The BJ Wars. Guess he has been eating the Lotuses.

...King's district is on Long Island (NYC suburbs), not the Bible Belt. It may be Republican territory, but the cultural makeup is different enough that the BJ War histrionics didn't play that well up here.

King is also has a lot of support from the Fenian wing of the Irish community, and unlike the tight-with-Tories Republicans, Clinton offered a chance at Northern Ireland negotiations that weren't just dictated from London.

I live on Long Island(Suffolk County) and I am in democratic heaven. I am constantly talking with people in my community about the idiot in charge and they are of the same mindset we are, and that's to get * out at all cost.

The odd thing is the plethora of repuke leaders we have here on LI. I really don't understand how they keep getting elected. As I said I speak to many many people here and I've found that the majority lean left.

The only reason I can think of for people here voting repuke is the fact of high property taxes. We DO have some of the highest taxes in the country, and my guess is that the people here believe the BS coming out of the repuke pols about lowering taxes. In the 25 years I've been here, there has been no reductions in property taxes, only increases.

About half of Nassau County (along the South Shore & eastern half), and part of South Shore Suffolk. It's based in the Nassau's famed Republican Party machine (home of Al D'Amato and Tom Gulotta) and gerrymandered to be Republican-friendly (For instance, at the Suffolk border, it squeezes all the way down to, quite literally, "the tracks" (LIRR) so that mostly-black North Amityville is excluded).

And it IS some of the highest-taxed areas of the country. Of course, in Nassau, Republican "fiscal responsibility" managed to create a massive county debt. Kinda like Orange County a few years ago. Or the Reagan years. Or the Bush years. or the other Bush years....

A pattern there, eh?

except for the real estate developers who are busy turning what's left of the potato fields into McMansions for the tasteless city people who have too much money and not enough social skills.

There are also alot of nail bangers building the McMansions who listen to Rush...

Then there are the regular people who can't afford to find a place to live and blame the Democrats for land preservation...

Then there are the bigots who hate the Hispanics who come here to work menial labor and take up rentals and housing...

Then there are the baymen who have been displaced... they think the problem is with environmental regulations.

...King was "reasonable" because the facts of his district forced him to be that way. If he'd toed Newt's line, he'd have been tossed out on his ass in the 1998 election.

Here's a quote from Wilson in the second paragraph:

"...There was nothing secret or earth-shattering in my report, just as there was nothing secret about my trip."

Please note the organizations briefed by Mr. Wilson upon his return to the States. So much for King's bluster.

For chrissake, this guy is MARRIED to an operative! He is furious that she was outed. IT came from the white house, not from him.

Let's not forget that King also wrote an op-ed this week accusing the CIA of being disloyal to the country and to the chimp.

It appears that King was appointed or was self-selected to be the point man on FUD for the White House. Should be interesting. I predict he will all of a sudden be making Sunday show appearances this week-end.

The CIA launched the inquiry, not Wilson.

One of the CIA officers (I think it was Larry Johnson) said if Bush doesn't 'call off the partisan dogs' more and more CIA officers will be speaking out about this.

Bring 'em on. This ain't going away.
