Alameda County touch screens not working
Report just in from PP -- Paranoid Pat is heading over with camera crew to see what's what.

More info (but not much) here: http://www.BBVreport.org

Don't know if this is just one polling place or more widespread.

9. Oakland: about 80% minority
funny thing, when you have problems with your voting machines, people can't vote for reasons like this: Long delays tend to accrue in the switch to paper (and often, there is a delay getting the paper ballots set up) and those who are hourly employees run out of time -- they face a choice: Get fired, get pay docked, or vote.

foment as much confusion as possible, blame the messenger, blame Davis because he doesn't want to get recalled. We're getting set up that it's the anti-recall forces causing the problems!!!

We have to fight this to the last man and woman, don't you agree Bev?

Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 11:31 AM by Terwilliger
just because some people say so

plus, I have to trust that Democrats (who are in charge here in Alameda county) wouldn't knowingly let me vote in a system that wouldn't count my vote

Dems wouldn't let me down, right?

OnEdit: changed 'evil' to 'bad'

21. didn't you know?
This is DemocraticPartyUnderground.com...it's not proper to think that Democrats are not holer-than-thou.

While I appreciate your efforts, and understand that Diebold or any other vote-machine service could be corrupted, I would expect any serious disenfranchisement to be addressed by the leaders we all voted for.

Right?

Democrats wouldn't intentionally allow voters to be actively disenfranchised would they?

7. Question for Bev
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 11:24 AM by beam_me_up
You say in a post here:
http://whitestarwebsitedesign.com/bbvreport/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=36#36
"BevHarris wrote:
Accept nothing less than a paper ballot that you verify. It is not a "receipt" or a "trail" but a ballot -- which should be considered the legal representation of your vote, and should be placed in a secure ballot box and retained as evidence of the vote. "

I'm not clear. Are you saying that even where electronic voting machines are used, paper ballots are an option the voter can request? This is news to me.

I am an Alameda County resident.

11. The paper ballot is something you should demand
Sure, they'll say you can't have one. But speak up and let everyone in sight know that is NOT okay.

And sign up to become a Black Box Activist: bev@blackboxvoting.com

We have activism activities that run the gamut from lots of effort to very little effort.

And, for very little effort, those of you who live in California -- tell folks to report their voting experiences, both good and bad, here:

10. Quick....
...somebody run to Office Max, get paper ballots photocopied, several hundred pencils and an electric sharpener! You know, there really should be an official policy of a 'manual back-up' at the ready for when those pesky machines go down!
