We should NOT recall Arnold immediately
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 11:54 PM by lifelong_Dem
I'd be absolutely with the immediate-recall folks except for one consideration, and unfortunately this consideration trumps everything else.

We have to let the national media focus on the national election now.

Rove would like nothing more than some other story in the media besides his boss' pathetic performance. Any other story will do -- another California circus will distract attention from the White House's multitude of mistakes and crimes.

The right-wingers had a bad week last week -- the Plame Affair finally got legs, Bush's popularity kept dropping like a rock, David Kay didn't find shit, Limbaugh got in all kinds of trouble -- now let it roll, and let the media focus turn away from CA for a bit.

I hate to say this, but we have to let this one go for now.

For now. Recall him in 2005. (Let him fuck up for a while first. If he's winning with a clear majority, a quick recall might actually lose anyway.)

1. You've partially convinced me....
We should wait to recall him until early-mid 2004, tying his inevitable failure to solve the state's problems in w/ the chimp and the GOP.

3. I disagree
Another recall would just suck up more political oxygen and distract from Bush*'s woefully inadequate performance as leader.

2. No recall for Groper
Let him sink in his own sh*t. By the time the 2004 elections roll around, CA will be in worse shape than at present.

He will be a miserable governor.

6. TOTALLY agree
plus the voters are going to be furious at anyone who tries another recall, at least in the near future. The recall has cost California so much money that another one would bankrupt the state and the Democrats don't need to get more blame.

5. Good idea
We have to let him fuck up enough for a recall to work first. Once his approval ratings hit the low 20s, low 30s, then it will be safe to act.
