Just 'cuz ya like Jews doesn't mean you don't love the essence of Nazism
This simplistic argument is driving me nuts: Arnold goes out of his way to show how much he loves Jews, so therefore any of his admiration of Hitler must be completely false.

There was a hell of a lot more to the Nazi Party than just destroying the Jews. Ask a communist. Ask an abstract painter. Ask a homosexual. Ask someone with birth defects.

What Arnold said he liked about Hitler was his oratory. He also said that he loved the raw power of controlling others. The most chilling part of his statements on the subject was that there is too much individualism in America and that they need a strong leader.

The essence of Nazism was that it was Fascism: corporatism that elevated the moneyed and investor classes to the status of an unassailable nobility that controls the government, while destroying unions, trampling civil rights, marginalizing pluralists and demanding strict conformity. This is what Arnold liked about Hitler--along with the narcissistic thrill of the huge adoring crowd--and that's what's so scary. He likes fascism and he considers himself superior due to his powerful will and discipline; others are inferiors. This is classic Republicanism (personal superiority) and it's morally ugly. That's the true problem, and it's nauseating to have it dismissed just because he has no beef with Jews. That's got nothing to do with it. That's not even the issue.

It's bullshit. To excuse his love of macho thug dominance by saying that he isn't anti-semitic is ludicrous.

In a like vein, it's outrageous to hear the comparisons to his sexual pawing with the dalliances of Clinton and Kennedy. The issue is CONSENT. It doesn't matter what Clinton did; that was consentual. The primitive sex-hating conservative mindset just sees "ug, sex bad" so there's no distinction between hot mutual whoopee and aggressive, unwanted advances. CONSENTUAL. The issue is consent; the two types of incidents are not the least bit comparable.

What a stupid, stupid world.

1. Not only that (though that's a lot)
but who in their right mind, when asked to name people they admire, puts Hitler at the top of the list--oh, not because of what he did of course, but because of the way he spoke, that nice young man. I mean, come on! If someone tells you casually that they admire Hitler for anything, aren't you thinking "Nazi!"? Of course you are! Unless you are a Nazi, or don't care if someone's a Nazi or not.

2. People who admire power for power's sake are trouble in many ways
They will sell themselves for popularity. They tend to commodify other people, since they're all inferiors. They feel invincible and entitled.

The philosophical dangers of this kind of mindset are the true issues, and to dismiss the allegations just because certain parallels don't exist are simplistic. But then, this was the essence of simplicity, and is further evidence of the facile nature of mankind.

The good thing about Schwarzenegger is that he doesn't have a diabolical plan; he is pure narcissism, attempting to justify his value to mankind with a strutting butch vigor. Hitler had a plan.

In a way, Arnold's a true follower in need to be treated like a leader; it's a common performer's dementia. He's dangerous because he will be controlled by others, but mercifully his ego will not let him be a total tool.

Even putting aside the worry of the future and the other political implications that will resonate for a while, it's just a disgusting example of human shallowness to rally to this dick. What's there? Nothing. Fine showmanship. Nice opportunism.

Now it's time to fuck him mercilessly. It's the lady or the tiger, and I hope it's Roy's tiger. If he wants to bellyache about the lack of fairplay, then he's a snivelling little sissy. It'll be hard to hide now.
