Michael Moore on The View
The ladies tried to tear him apart. Started in on his claim that the war on terror is a front to push the Bush agenda. Gave all the usual fear arguments. One said she just missed being a terror victim in South Africa and he didn't know what he was talking about. He came back with his own personal terrorist attack experience and that these are events that have always been a part of reality - not cause for a "war" and not justification for things like arctic drilling.

Next Star was pissed that he has a chapter where he tries to give God's reaction to George Bush - even though she acknowledged it was satire. He pointed out that it was in response to Bush's claim that he was governor and then president because it was ordained by God. Someone said he should decide if he wanted to do documentaries or satire but not both. He said no, documentaries shouldn't have to be unfunny and dry to get their point across.

Then the woman from the terror story (guest host on The View, not sure her name) said Bowling for Columbine was staged and he went off. He wouldn't let the comment drop - said she was slandering him on national TV and demanded to know why she said that. She (and all of the women of The View at this point) said there was no way he walked out of the bank with the gun like that. He said he absolutely did. They didn't want to accept he did, but their arguments got weaker.

Watching, I realized this is probably what much of the US is going through over his movie and book. Protective disbelief. A reaction of, "This isn't really true - is it?"

Whatever his politics - whatever anyone thinks of stands he has taken - thank God that someone has the balls to stand up and say THE EMPEROR IS BUCK NAKED!

1. I'm halfway through the book...
...and loving it.

There has been SO much information over the last two years regarding the Bush complicity of 9/11 that I'd forgotten a lot of it. Moore lays it all out.

He even says he is archiving the article the footnotes refer to on his site - though I haven't checked for them.

7. Kick Ass Michael
I'm just shocked they would have someone as controversial as Michael Moore on the show.

Give em Hell!

11. They've had a few controversial guests on
They had O'Reiley one day and Al Franken the next and they have been all over Arnold and Rush.

At the beginning of the show they did a bit about a new handshake in California now that Arnold won. Meridith and Joy went to shake hands. Joy kept her hand out while Meridith grabbed Joy's breast.

I was surprised at how they jumped off on Moore. It's fear that he speaks the truth.

8. I thought those "view" women were suppose to be "liberals"?
I'm glad they had Michael Moore on to shake up their "fear support".

9. Michael should sue
I watched The View also because Michael was going to be on it. I'm sure he has the master tape running in real time of the bank transaction and with that off he goes to get an attorney. Michael knows who will be coming after him so documentation is vital.

Star and her "religions" thing. Star became known on national TV because she covered OJ Simpson and her great fame came when she was standing outside of OJ's home when he was acquitted. However now she's religious. I see.

10. If percieved as putting down religion you get only athiest vote - that
does not win elections.

and indeed drives dicussion about anything off course as those of faith ask the fellow putting down religion about his lack of respect for others.

Satire - God jokes - are very easily misunderstood - or perhaps correctly understood - as slaps in the face of folks of faith.

Not a safe path through an election.
