Dem Mayor Street's office had been bugged apparently by the FBI.

He is in a tough re-election battle against a Republican.

This is only the most populous city in a state that is a huge electoral prixe in 2004. He who controls City Hall will have a major impact on who wins the state and maybe the elcetion.

And they find that the FBI had planted bugs???

Unless this is a crimninal investigation.....(which I doubt sincce there were bugs throughout the mayor's offices) this could be big enough to pull down Ashcroft and *.

2. How many electoral votes does PA have?
California will be handing theirs over next year, I'm sure.

Never mind, I looked it up. Pennsylvania had 23 electoral votes in 2000. California had 54. Florida had 25.

3. Who knows?
But it would be stupid for Katz to put the bugs in the office. If he did that then his campaign would be in trouble. Katz had been leading in the polls, but it seems like the race is a dead heat.

It wouldn't surprise me if Street was under investigation. He has been involved in numerous scandals as mayor. Katz may very well win this race.
