WTF! WH officials think its "very unlikely" Plame leaker will be found...
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 10:03 PM by TruthIsAll
Of course. It's hard. They can't find the anthrax terrorist. Or bin Laden. Or Saddam.

They couldn't find Atta's wallet in the WTC rubble, either.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/08/leak.main/

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The FBI is expected to conduct the first interviews with White House officials concerning the leak of the identity of a CIA operative late Wednesday or Thursday, according to government sources.

snip

Some officials think it is very unlikely that the FBI and career Justice Department prosecutors will be able find which officials leaked the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame, who is former ambassador Joseph Wilson's wife, to columnist and CNN contributor Robert Novak.

1. LOL I have to laugh at the "some officials" part....
could it be that those same "some officials" are the "officials" that committed the act of treason in the first place?? Nah, couldn't be!

3. So the three day stonewall paid off...
...all relevant documents have been shredded and it is now "unlikely" they will find the leaker.

4. The WH
hopes the CIA doesn't find anything (the FBI is in there for dressing). The CIA has probably already found something.

Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 10:16 PM by 0rganism
Well, shit, that's just plain incompetence. Finger a leftover staffer from the Clinton administration, get Novak to agree to the frame job, and hang him out to swing in the wind. Send suitable notification to the other "journalists" who were fed info, and give them some free advice to shut them up.

End of line.

Since they're not ready to pull the op yet, my guess is Rove is working on the evidence and priming appropriate staff with suitable backstories.

16. Wouldn't work...
It's doubtful that any "leftover staffer from the Clinton administration would have the clearance required to access the identity of a NOC. I suspect you could count the number of people in positions to know her identity on two hands...maybe only one.

19. C'mon, you underestimate these people
1. Pick holdover staffer
2. Upgrade their clearance, with backdated forms
3. Revoke said clearance, because the staffer is the "leaker"
4. "Inform" DOJ that you've got the "culprit"
5. Put the pigeon on "administrative leave"
6. Hold press conference deploring the staffer's criminal behavior

No problems. Minimal mess.

13. the corruption is astounding.
will the media try to make America forget about this felony?

who really wants to live in George Bush's fascist America?

Hey, freepers, if you want me to leave America, I'd be happy to oblige if you can pass the hat and help make up for that 40% drop in my net worth since Arthur Anderson was outed for the frauds they are.

And why is Ken Lay walking the streets? If he'd robbed a bank, wouldn't he be behind bars by now? I suppose bilking people who've worked their whole lives is okay since he's a Bush buddy.

Just like I suppose it's okay to commit a possible act of treason, and surely a felony, if you're a Bush administration official.

15. of course they can't find the leak-- have already destroyed
whatever evidence might accidentally have been left behind.

does anyone remember that the fraud currently occupying the
oval office swore that his administration would be one of
honour and integrity? I guess whoever reads to him has never
actually explained what those words mean.

18. Investigators have already talked to (minimum) Wilson, his wife and Novak.
So they already know who leaked. They will now work their way in a closing circle to the suspects and see if they talk, or lawyer up. That should put somebody in some room with some weapon, at least. But its still just one track in this train yard. :)

21. I'm not surprised.
We have a Republican President and a Republican Congress and Senate... etc. Clinton faced Republicans and was almost brought down by a BJ.

This is a double standard. The Republicans who don't want an objective independant counsel, and those who defend the WH Senior Official (probably Rove), are treasonist.

It seems archaic... but you know what should happen to people who commit treason.

22. Why doesn't Bush ask Novak?
Bush is on record as stating that this is a very serious criminal offense. Novak, being the good American that he claims he is, would surely help his pResident and tell Dimson who leaked this treasonous information, right?

So why does George pick up the phone and call Bob? I'd say it would take all of 2 minutes to find out who the treasonous bastard is....

Didn't Bush promise that he would restore "honor and dignity" to the White House? I assumed that this meant there would be no more scandals and no more attempts to get around the law.
