John Kerry, IMHO, for "if you want a prescription drug benefit, you can do one of two things. Hire Rush Limbaugh's housekeeper, or elect me as president."

2. great line
I was actually making a snoring sound, because Kerry can be so boring, then he busted out with the Rush zinger and for a fleeting moment I saw our next president.

34. Drugs Lowbrow's spin
So...does he mention is or does he not? It's almost damned-if-he-does, damned-if-he-doesn't.

I suspect that he'll mention it and spin it like a top, saying Kerry is assassinating his character with lies, gossip and rumors.

I'm not a big Kerry fan, but he was pretty good last night.

7. I have to admit...
...I laughed.

But over-reliance on these kinds of one-liners, on soundbites, is one of the main things that has gotten us to where we are -- a thug-like macho culture like one of the late Roman empire, and it's exactly that culture that makes neocons flourish.

8. Rush will be bashing Kerry tomorrow....
...but I agree, excellent line. Kerry has great things to say about energy independence, and a good number of topics. I really wish I could like him more. Him and Gep have some great speechwriters, excellent one-liners. And in our mass market, one-liners and sound bites are essential.

25. Um...No. Here Is The Transcription.
"I'm not going to attack a fellow Democrat, because I think everybody on this stage shares the same goal. I think it's a little... I think it's really embarrassing that a group of candidates up here are working on changing the leadership of this country and can't get their own story straight." More of a commentary on attacking then him doing the attacking himself.

11. Gephardt had the best line
I gotta say, Dick Gephardt's "If you wanna live like a Republican, you gotta vote for a Democrat" was, hands-down, the best line in tonight's debate -- and I say that as a Clark supporter. ;)

quoted by Clinton at one of the party conventions...and all over this and other boards.
It was new to the crowd, though.

15. Ah, I did not know that.
...and to me!

Well, it's a fantastic line, and it figures it came from Truman.

19. no problem, it's STILL a GREAT line
and as you pay attention more it will be used often, and will be just as good and true as when truman used it originally.

I know it's a variation of the old Truman line, but I didn't get Gep's point. Maybe I'm just tired.

16. Al Sharpton
John Edwards doesn't have to defend himself for being the son of a millworker and being successful, he should PROMOTE it.

Or something like that. They flashed to a wide shot of Edwards standing next to him, I swear John looked like he was gonna lean over and kiss the guy. I think Sharpton has an Edwards bias.

24. I actually met Edwards
In DC back in July, took the time to talk with me and take a couple photos. He was very friendly, and much taller than I expected him to be. Probably over 6 feet.

I think it was in response to the "why are Democrats out of touch with the public?" question.

31. The Edwards Comment on Millionaires By The Pool
Can't remember exactly how he said it, but John Edwards made me happy when he blasted the Bush tax cuts for helping the millionaires sitting by the pool checking their books to see how much money they made that day.
