A little arithmetic, and a question re David Kay

He has 1200 people searching for the elusive WMDs, has spent $300 milliion and wants $600M more to continue for from 6 to 9 months. Okay,
let's do a little easy math (where's the damn calculator when you need it?.......ah, here it is)

Let's split the difference on the time-table and call it 7.5 months.
So, 600 million divided by 7.5 is ...golly, exactly 80 million bucks a month!

Now we will divide that by the 1200 people and, Voila! It comes out to
$66,666.67 a month for each of these guys. And we can translate that into an annual figure - lessee, multiplied by 12 = $800,000 a year.

Not bad. Where do I apply?

Oh, wait, I can hear someone saying "But they need equipment and...uh, 'stuff. Okay, fine. Let's say we buy every one of them a new Toyota pickup truck. A decent one is around $15,000 so 1200 would cost
$18 million and let's say each inspector needs another $10,000 worth of pencils, paper, digital camera, tape recorder, etc. That's another $12 million, so that plus the truck money comes to $30M. That subtracted from 600M is $570M.

Now using the same methods as above we get:

A paltry 76 million a month.

Or $63,333.33 a month for each intrepid seeker.
