Is that your contention. It seems to me that "India" is related to "Hindi." Do you have some etymological justification for your "In-Dios" claim? And wouldn't it be misnaming in any case? Why is it better if the term has some Indo-European religious connotation rather than being simply a geographical mistake on the part of the initial conquerors? it's the conqueror's term in either case.
9. I prefer to call them "natives" or "native Americans"
The term "Indian" seems like a continuation of the ignorance in which Columbus thought he found India, a claim he stubbornly hung onto until his death.
