Help: I need a cite for a Ks. Dem msg board I am moderating . . .
I want to start a discussion category concerning the *practical* things that need to be done for Peace. I need a cite for a credible description of *HOW* to approach Peace, in Iraq primarily, or in the MidEast, of Afghanistan, or I guess anywhere for that matter.

Thanks for what anyone can tell me.

4. Kansas?
Where is your msg board. I would like to see it. You might try The Kucinich for President site, even if you do not agree with it there are several things there to get the ball rolling.

5. Kansas City. Thanks for your interest . . . .
but it is a Dean board http://www.kansasfordean.com/ . Not mine, but belongs to a local "new media" entrepeneur. All of us on the development team agree that the Forums are NOT exclusively for Dean supporters. I'm an issues person, so I'm moderating. In trying to get more community for the local issues, I invited everyone I know to come and use the message board. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Our "balanced-on-a-hair" zietgeist is creating fascism on the right and the left. Ideology is easy, so the extremes will always take care of themselves. What is needed the most are the connectors, real, true, functional connectors that is.

6. FYI. Ten ways to resolve conflict listed.
This was a poster I saw in the 'Heroes of Liberty' Museum in Philadelphia this summer. It was placed in a children's display with implications for international relations and ending racism etc.
Although I was glad to find this here, the museum also had Colin Powell and Henry Kissinger up on the wall with other 'heroes.' I had a long discussion with someone at the front desk about these errors.

1. LISTEN MORE, TALK LESS.
Learn the other person's viewpoint.
2. ASK WHEN YOU WANT SOMETHING.
Making demands only makes things worse.
3. FOCUS ON THE PROBLEM, NOT THE PERSON.
It's the only way to solve a disagreement.
4. ALWAYS DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM AT HAND.
Never bring up old issues or resentments.
5. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR PART IN THE CONFLICT.
Your view may not be completely right either.
6. EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS WITHOUT CASTING BLAME.
Blame never solves anything.
7. ALWAYS TALK THINGS OUT.
Never use physical force to express your anger.
8. CHOOSE YOUR WORDS CAREFULLY.
Once a word is spoken, it cannot be taken back.
9. LOOK FOR A SoLUTION THAT IS AGREEABLE TO ALL PARTIES.
If someone isn't satisfied, the problem isn't solved.
10.STEP BACK AND PUT THE PROBLEM IN PERSPECTIVE.
Remember, a problem you have today may not seem so bad tomorrow.
