CNBC's Military Analyst on the new Saddam Info
Said it was probably taken out of context and that we probably aren't as close as what was reported. If Saddam is captured or killed, it could lessen the amount of violence in Suni Triangle, but it could still be a problem elsewhere. Right now there isn't an Anti-American feeling, but an Anti-Occupation one.

1. But wait...
I thought we were "closing the noose?" I thought we had "him on the run?" I thought we were only a "few hours behind him?"

Damn just when I was getting my hopes up.

My question is...does anyone really give a shit anymore if we catch Saddam Hussein? I thought we were after OSAMA BIN LADEN. You know the guy who is responsible for 9/11? What about that guy? Don't hear his name cross the lips of George W. Bush* all that often these days do you?

How about Mullah Omar? I thought we had him "in our sights" as well?

I want my damn country back!

4. Just news-cycle control. This story breaks up the rhythm of "bad war" week
Every time the news orgs start to repeat how bad things are in Iraq, a BOOGA-BOOGA story is trotted out to dilute the water-cooler prattle. That's all this story is.

6. He also repeated the latest Republican talking point:
"What we see in Iraq now is not anti-American, it is anti-occupation."

I have heard this several times now. I'm like, "WTF! Who the hell is the occupier?"
