1. Lemme guess:
They'll downplay the Bush Administration's role in getting the soldiers to sign a document they'd never seen before, criticize liberals for "undermining morale," etc. etc. Same old bullshit from the corporate media....And the freepers think CNN is "liberal!"

3. the're giving it seven minutes, including commercials
931 to 938.

they just ran a segment on it now. taped it. about 3 minutes long.

basically swallowed the govt line: letters came straight from battalion bivouac, at commander's behest.

NO involvement of higher ups in DOD.

all alleged signees agreed with statements in letters.

move on

no story here

6. No involvement of higher ups in DOD?
Maybe not but I doubt it. This smells of lewie bremmer or someone high up in the "coalition".

9. hope you're wrong......lots of mention of it today
the program has a name, mentioned on CBS news; going to take lots of memory holing to lose this one, but that happens a lot.

for example: JM Marshall didn't mention it on his worthless CNN appearance tonight, though.

not positive, but I watched it, and don't remember him mentioning it.

4. Ok
So I watched it. It wasn't spectacular. They had a voiceover from the Olympian editir who noticed he was getting the same letter from different people, etc.

The spokesman for the Pentagon said he was unaware of any letter writing campaigns, Rummy didn't do it, etc.

At least they covered it to add to the drip drip drip.

7. Marsahall was on, and it was, IMO, worthlessq
all they talked about was that astroturfing is becoming more and more prevalent, that it's not a very good thing, and that these letters seemed to originate from battalion HQ.....no evidence of higher up involvement.

very disappointing

I taped it, and culdn't believe how they glossed things over.

10. How About Not Bringing The 00' Florida Election "Protests" Up..
as an example of astroturfing. I was waiting for it. I was a little dissapinted in Josh.

11. what disappointed me...........
was the fact that they barely discussed the incident at hand.

at all!

WHO is behind this?

it should be a big story, an integral part of the propaganda assault being so obviously waged (and uncommented upon by the handmaidens.....merely mentioned) in the media......supposedly "under the radar," to a great extent.

look at all the LIES spun last week by Cheney, Bush, and Condi, with almost NO response (a few exceptions, but, as in almost every case, there's one response, then down the memory hole.......where's the ECHO CHAMBER????)

12. Smells like the Office of Goebbels Communications.
I mean the Office of Global Communications, per executive order 21 JAN 03.

"Also, from time to time, OGC facilitates the organization of teams of communicators to be sent proactively to foreign or domestic areas of high global interest and media attention."

http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/WO0301/S00108.htm

The office's first report, issued almost immediately, was
"Apparatus of Lies: Saddam's Disinformation and Propaganda 1990-2003." The office is headed by Tucker Eskew,
a soft-spoken but brass-knuckles political operative who ran Bush's South Carolina presidential primary campaign.

http://www.worldmessenger.20m.com/medialies.html

If you've forgotten Tucker Eskew:

http://fpc.state.gov/16841.htm

"The essence of propaganda consists in winning people over to an idea so sincerely, so vitally, that in the end they succumb to it utterly and can never escape from it." - Goebbels

13. is he the confederate nut?
I remember seeing a picture of him, marching in some insane parade of confederate boosters.

pretty sure he's the one.

really really scumbag

isn't he the main man behind the smearing of McCain during the primary?

if so, HE, as much as Rove, is the one most responsible for what's happened to the world.

bring on the tumbril........

14. Do You Actually Think They Are Going...
to have a substantial discussion of something they(media) might be complicit in? Not until they have their self defending spin in place anyway

15. Good question. Who will write the 'Complicity of Media' story?
Who will print it? Who will air it?
