why did pat robertson say the state dep. should be blown up???
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 09:36 PM by veganwitch
i saw on one of the bottom-of-the-screen scrolling news thingees that pat robertson said that the state department should be blown up with a nuclear weapon. (and the white house was "disappointed" or something like that.)

why did he say that? does anyone have a sound clip?

this was a day or two ago.

also earlier today, i was watching cbn (for entertainment) and pattie said that as american he can say anything under freedom of speech whether it be the government "or, say, the state department."

is the state department succombing to all the feminists and homosexuals and pagans that caused 9.11?

1. I don't know, but I like your screen name
Robertson's daddy was in with Prescott Bush. check it out in Palast's book. Robertson is certainly in the BFEE crowd.

2. apparently, hes done this twice!
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,99792,00.html

Robertson, who heads the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network, made the remark while interviewing author Joel Mowbray on "The 700 Club" television program last week. Mowbray wrote a book called "Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Endangers America's Security."

"I read your book. When you get through, you say, 'If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer.' I mean, you get through this, and you say, 'We've got to blow that thing up,"' Robertson said during the interview.

<snip>

Robertson also advocated bombing the State Department during a June interview with Mowbray.

"Well, it looks like Congress had better do something, and maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up," Robertson said.

3. the worst moment of 2003 for me
was when I saw a snippet from the 700 Club while waiting in line at a store. it was during the war and their coverage was so fucked up that I thought they were covering the fourth of july fireworks.

Sick Pat should be in trouble for these statements about the State Dept.

4. I am ashamed to be a 700 Club member
and though the apologists on the show can say that Pat can say whatever he wants since this is America I wonder what the effect would be if some person of color said the same shit on their Tuesday night local cable access rant show?

If a guy named Mohamed had made thsoe remarks on their local CA channel Ashcroft would've personally arrested them and they would be doing time in Cuba by now.

THere really ain't a lot of difference between the 700 Club and Waynes' World, except Wayne and Garth made more sense.

5. maybe you shouldn't be a member
700 Club is mighty fucked up and there is a world of difference between it and a damn comedy sketch.

hey, I'm from the South, I know the 700 Club and I know there is nothing I like about it.

14. thanks
not sure how someone in the 800's missed what the 700 club was, but glad you could clear that up.

Incidentally, I meant that the 700 clube (Pat'sCA Show) really isn't much more than a glitzy cable access program ran by a bunch of immature, self-serving kids. The real difference, except that Wayne was kinda smart (comparably) was that Waynes World was intended to be funny. the 700 club is funny cuz its so over the top.

6. In his senile old age, it seems Pat is a little confused...
Seems he can no longer tell the difference between Secretary of State Colin Powell...

and his own former TV partner Ben Kinchlow.

Perhaps if Pat believes Ben is running the State Department, then in his warped mind, God must want it destroyed.

8. Well, if his skin wasn't white
And his name was something like Ahmed or Jose, Pat would be saying those things from a small cage in Cuba. As it is, it's merely the fundamentalist loony faction of the fascist government "debating" another faction.

I have read that he is still very involved in the pursed strings being opened for Repugs that are considering running for office. His CBN is propaganda and filled with lies. He is EVIL. Greg Palast has written some good stuff on Pat's business dealings.

Here's a link to 2 other links of Palast on the filthy, greedy, liar Pat Robertson. It documents his love of Moloch.

21. It goes back years when they tried to get people to give $700 a year, I
believe. Or maybe they wanted 700 people to give a million bucks each...or some goofy shit like that. But it translates into dollars, whatever the details are. The guy is an evil motherfucker, that's all I need to know, really.
