2. I used to defend Miller
No More. I remember the Miller I saw in 1992 at the Dem Convention. And then I see the Miller of today and I cringe. I really do.

Why did he change so fat?

3. I always like to see where they land after they leave politics.
Wait and see what he does after he leaves Washington and that will probably answer your question. When Jesse the body threw his big snit fit after the Wellstone memorial I thought I will bet he winds up with a gig at Msnbc or some other corp media outlet. I haven't figured out what will happen with Zell because I do not know enough about his benefactors and who owes him enough to offer a favor.

4. Chimp Buttkisser Deluxe
One of his greatest hits:

When it comes to showing deference to our President in a time of war, I doubt there are many who have more respect for him as a leader and an individual than I do. As a Marine, I was taught to say "Aye, aye sir," do an about face and go do the job my Commander in Chief ordered me to do.

...

I also believe he has gathered together the finest national security team since Harry Truman had George Marshall. When it comes to expanding the war on terrorism to Iraq, I stand with the president and I will not criticize his judgment. He has already made the case with me, and I am convinced that Saddam Hussein has got to go.

But I always like to run things by my focus group back home, and lately, the comments from my focus group tell me that the folks out there in Middle America, sitting around their kitchen tables, have questions that need to be answered before we march our soldiers into Iraq.

A lot of good questions from his constituents follow. They're clearly skeptical about Dubya's Iraq obsession.

Then...

None of the above in any way should be interpreted as my backing down in my support of the president's effort. His position and his principles have already made the case with me. I write this in the spirit of trying to get a better explanation for the folks back home and the folks across Middle America. Those folks who love their country very much and who respect their President, but who need a few more answers.

5. might be interesting
If he can explain how he is any different than a Republican.

I'll take him to Saxby Chambliss any day. At least he's no chickenhawk.

6. A conservative Democrat?
What is that, anyway? A person that calls themself a Democrat but votes republican?

I really don't get it; I never got Zell Miller. He has the worst voting record of any Democrat. Some republicans have better voting records I believe.

Let the door hit you on the way out, Zell. Thanks for the bad memories.

7. Always the first in line to condemn his own party
So now the transformation is complete...The only vote I ever regret casting was for Miller when he ran for governor in 96. I remember it was a VERY close race, and he lobbied the black dem voting bloc and black churches hard, using scare tactics about how the right-wing Guy Millner(?) was a closet racist and would make it open season on black folks...Now he's the first person Bush counts on every time when he needs someone to cross the party line for a crucial vote in the senate, and the last person who would show any loyalty to the party or the people who got him elected...Zell, please go kill youself...

9. When Jim Jeffords gave the senate to Tom Daschle
Zell Miller could have given it right back to Trent Lott if he was as much a turncoat as some in this thread make him out to be.

He didn't though. To disagree with Miller's conclusions is fair but let's not go overboard.

10. The reason Zig Zag Sellout Zell didn't switch parties is because
Lincoln Chafee threatened to leave the GOP if he did.

Zell is a useless POS.

12. So why didn't Chafee switch in 2002?
He and some of those other "Republican moderates" that people here are so much in love with could have prevented a hell of a lot of damage if they had put their "moderate" beliefs above party loyalty.
