FL Statewide Elections
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 11:29 PM by jiacinto
Besides the Senate race are there any statewid election for cabinet offices? There seem to have cabinet elections for:

State Treasuer
Commission of Education

Those offices last faced the voters in 2000. Will they up in 2004?

4. Hi
I think Secretary of Education is a new position. Jeb appointed Jim Horne to the positon in 2001. I don't think it's an elected office, kind of like Lieutenant Governor in Florida.

I'm not sure about Treasurer. They passed a Constitutional Amendment back in 1998 which combined a lot of offices. Department of Financial Services. I'm not sure who runs it now.

Charlie Crist got elected over Buddy Dyer for AG last year. Dyer went on to be elected mayor of Orlando soon after. Charles Bronson was re-elected as Secretary of Agriculture over David Nelson.

5. Both offices no longer exist as elected ones
Treasurer is now the CFO of the state (voted on in 2002)

Sec. of Education is now an appointed position.

6. So what cabinet offices are still elected?
Or did they all become appointed positions?
