Why isn't the "patriotism" of Robertson and Coulter being challenged?
Among other endless ignorant, hateful, and insane statements, Pat Robertson says that a "nuclear bomb should be dropped on Foggy Bottom" (the State Department).

Among other endless ignorant, hateful, and insane statements, Ann Coulter says that "the only bad thing about Timothy McVeigh is that he didn't drive his truck into the New York Times Building."

And now WA repuke Congressman Nethercutt says that the media should be focusing on the "good" we're doing in our rebuilding of Iraq, and that "it's a better and MORE IMPORTANT story than a couple of soldiers a day being killed."

So, now I ask Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, Bill O'Lielly, Sean Hannity, Paula Zahn, Tweety (Chris Matthews), Rush LIEbaugh, Michael Savage, and all of the rest of the "liberal" media, WHERE THE HELL IS YOUR OUTRAGE? WHY aren't you questioning THEIR patriotism, and making a huge deal out of THEIR so-called "anti-Americanism", THEIR "hatred of America", and THEIR "mean-spirited divisiveness?" Can you imagine the endless uproar that would ensue if any of those statements, and the many other ridiculous hateful crap spewing from their mouths and the mouths of their ilk, had been made by one of those horrid "libruls" you love to deride as "anti-American" and "traitorous?" Well, guys and gals, I'm waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting........................................

2. I mean challenged by the
so-called "liberal" media, which loves to jump on Dems for the slightest thing, but always seems to yawn at blatantly incendiary and hateful statements like the ones in my post.

Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 12:35 PM by Flying_Pig
making terrorist threats? Do you think for one moment that if any DU'er were to make a public statement calling for the nukeing of the State Department, that the Secret Service, the FBI, and the CIA wouldn't be all over them, and probably hustle them off for interrogation, and perhaps a nice bed at Gitmo?

Why ARE these right-wing fascist hate-mongers getting away with these threats? Could it be that our nation, and its media, truly have gone completely fascist, and actually support these people?

Whether it be Bush's criminal lies, the actions of the Robertson's and the Coulter's, or the purposeful destruction of our economy by Republican right-wing radicals, THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH IT. The press and media are LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT.

Why? Well, it's as I advocated the other day in another thread. Bush, PNAC, AIPAC, and Sharon/Likud, have many friends in the media. These people want wars, and fascist imperialism, and their friends in the media are supporting their efforts. It's all about oil, Israel, and imperialism, and anyone who supports their efforts (as Coulter and Robertson and their ilk most certainly do) not only gets a pass to advocate terrorism, but are encouraged to brew hate.

5. I agree that hese people should be arrested and charged...
for their statements about violently overthrowing the gov't.

here on DU, I had several posts deleted because I had stated, "Fight the good fight". I was in no way advocating violence, I was working on the intellectual 'fights' that will come. Sometimes, these can be more exhausting than physical fighting, but I do not advocate violence, except as a case for defense of person, or in some cases, property.

My point is, DU has better enforcement of percieved threats than our own "dept of Homeland Security". With the current cabal in place though, I see little relief from the attacks the RWnuts place on our country.

6. That's a very good point, and as good
an explanation as anything I can think of. And it infuriates and frustrates me to no end that we are pounced on the moment we open our mouths, and yet the wingnuts can get away with saying and doing ANYTHING and, if we point that out, we're just told that it's "sour grapes", that the "librul" media is in total control, and that WE'RE the ones causing all of the "problems." GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

8. Robertson's organizations apparently get tax dollars, too...
...under faith-based initiatives or some such system. I'll have to find a link on that.

And I think all sensible people, regardless of party affiliation or beliefs, can agree that it's absolutely irresponsible to make on-air comments about harming people at a government building. There are plenty of garden-variety nutcases, in addition to actual terrorists and other plotters, who will be only too glad to follow the Robertsons and G. Gordon Liddys of this world (Remember Liddy's "head shot" comments on how to kill government agents?).

So where's the investigation of Robertson? Where are the bans on his receiving government funding? Where is the Republican outcry against Liddy, a bona fide felon? Or do the right-wingers just prefer their fantasy of Clinton and their obsessional, paranoid rantings about various liberals?

I think we all know the answer.

Personally, though, I would have absolutely no problem with my tax dollars going to hunt down Pat Robertson and his ilk, one by one. :-)

10. Question: is there a place in the "Homeland Security Apparatus" office
where we can e-mail suggesting that they should be held as terrorists?
A mass e-mail of questions might be appropriate.

I'm going to use this phrase to mean we need to double (press) our efforts to get a message out! The pun is that 'press it' could mean bombard the press with the message. At any rate, let's PRESS THIS!!

15. I got to thinking about these baboons...
and I came up with the frighteneing thought, that these people really do believe in what they say. After all, when you are, "on a mission from God", who's to get in the way?

If these people are really deluded enough to believe that they are on a mission, then they are doubly dangerous. I have no idea whether God speaks directly to Robertson, but if He does, it is not the same God I believe in. Robertson's god seems to be somewhat of the vengful type, filled with anger and intent on destroying everything in his path. The God I know of, is a loving God, that would not come out of the Old Testament with retribution.

I am also reminded of the cautious statement from Christ regarding false prophets, 'Beware, for many shall come in my name, but they are not of me'.

Robertson is so consumed with hate, that he cannot find a middle ground. He cannot find forgiveness and compassion for those that are 'beneath' him. For this, he has doomed himself to a life of solitude, tormented by his own fears and prejudices. He is evil personified, and rather than despise the man, I feel sorry for him. But, he walked into this with both eyes open, and he deserves what he gets.

:nopity: for Pat and his ilk.

Aren't those comments of Ms. Coulter and Mr. Robertson considered terroristic?
Never mind the media. These people need to be reported (https://tips.fbi.gov/) and marched off to sunny Guantanamo under the Patriot Act.

Not sure whether Rep. Robin Hayes (R-NC) will do anything, but if he's serious about fighting terra, Robertson will be in Gitmo by morning.

Who is also a 'puke...I believe...how come they aren't coming down on her for the comment about Brittney Spears?

Imagine if one of US had said it?

To say nothing of Robertson and Coulter's comments.

See, the difference is simple...they are 'pukes, so they can say that stuff and the media lets THEM get away with it...further proof the media is anything but "liberal!" In fact, if there is a bias in the media, I'd say it was a right-wing bias...not a liberal bias....

I'll simply note that nothing in the job descriptions of the list of GOpundits in your post involves any of the following:

1. Consistency;
2. Intellectual honesty;
3. Moral or ethical correctness;

-OR-

4. Factual accuracy.

Their jobs are specifically and exclusively to:

1. Guide public discourse to the events that can most effectively be spun to the advantage of the GOP;

-AND-

2. Spin every event to the advantage of the GOP.

26. I've come to the conclusin that Osama is a "great American patriot"
I truly believe he is----after all he's threatened this nation and has gone all the way to attack it and is sitting in some cave planning more. In a word, if these Robertson-type slime in this nation are not attacked and prosecuted but are held up as "good Americans" then it must mean that Osama is a truly great American. They simply advocate killing and destruction here in the homeland; Osama puts his actions where his mouth is. Perhaps we should grant bin Laden and the boys honorary citizenship based on the admired qualities of people like Robertson.......or, if people don't like that then maybe we should have Robertson, Coulture and bin Laden ALL in front of the same firing squad!!!!
