I laughed at their knee-slapping "Eee...ahh...eee...ahh" routine every time I saw it.
When I was eight years old.

6. I got a call from a lady today
who wanted to order from our catalog, but "wasn't sure" because it was a "holiday" catalog instead of a "Christmas" catalog. I explained that not everyone celebrates Christmas, and "holiday" encompasses any end of the year festivity which might entail gift buying. "Do you call them the holidays or do you call it Christmas?" she asked. "I call it the holidays," I replied, which was honest because I've worked in retail and it's a reflex to not single out one particular festivity when speaking to someone whose traditions I am not familiar with.

"So do you put up a Christmas tree, or a Holiday tree?" she asks as if this involved starving children. "Well, we put up a Christmas tree, because that's what holiday a decorated tree usually represents."

"Well, I don't know if I want to shop with you if your company doesn't celebrate Christmas."

"Funny, that's what the lady just before you said about Hannukah."

Well. That's what I wanted to say. If I'd have thought I would have said, "No we don't put up a Christmas tree, we light a menorah."

I just transferred her to the complaint department so they could properly document her concerns.

8. what is this overriding obsession the fundies have with insisting that it
be called "christmas' and that everyone has to bow to their views? and why are they becoming more and more obnoxious about it?

13. Someone I work with today
said that some guy had talked to several different people about how there were a hundred million people...I'm assuming who are so ticked with the term "holiday" over "Christmas" that they couldn't possibly go about their shopping.

14. Another Answer
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 12:06 AM by lolly
Well, if you didn't need your job, of course . . .

You could answer with a diatribe on how Modern Christmas celebrations had polluted and perverted the true meaning of Christmas, which should only be about Jesus, not about materialism and idol worship. You could rail about the pernicious influence of the devil-worshipping pagans and how they tricked people into idolotry by getting them to worship trees at Christmas instead of celebrating Christ's birth. Wouldn't hurt to ask her if she had noticed that "Santa" was really an anagram of "Satan," and that this was proof that our so-called "Christmas" celebrations were the work of the anti-christ . . .

15. Shrill cries for constant cultural war to reinforce their importance
to people who can't stand to live in freedom because choices are too difficult.

In short...I am sick of these ass hats.
